a beautiful score, beautiful violins, sensitive and delicate, seems THE VILLAGE score, elegant and haunting,
this score elevates the film, james newton howard is very brillant and is definitive one of best composers soundtrack.

Absolutely loved this soundtrack, if you love James Newton Howard you will not be disappointed, I have listened to it many times and highly recommend this score to anyone.

I love this score. I was struck by the artistry of it while watching Defiance in the theaters. Haunting and beautiful.

I bought the DVD of the movie and I loved it. The music and soundtrack also impressed me alot. I wanted the music from the motion picture so I ordered it. The violin solos by Joshua Bell are fantastic. I love this CD, it's great!!

Defiance is a beautifully haunting soundtrack with intricate melodies showcasing the stellar violin work of Joshua Bell. If you like soundtracks in the haunting style of Schindler's List than you will enjoy this masterpiece.

The movie Defiance was fabulous. So much so that I never really paid much attention to the music. However, after seeing Joshua Bell in person and learning he was a big part of the musical score, I purchased the CD. Don't listen to it while driving because you will be put right to sleep. There are parts that are good but for the most part the music is slow, solemn and hard to listen to for very long.

I cannot say enough about this score by JNH or recommend it more highly. It is a gorgeous CD start to finish. The movie is excellent and I had noticed the nice music, which is somewhat downplayed in the film. But it fully comes to life as a standalone listening experience and is easily one of my all time favorite film scores. This is a magnum opus work from the great James Newton Howard... and thank you James!

Good score and can't wait to see the film. Very stirring music and I enjoy all of Howard's music; he's one of the best.

The different tracks on "Defiance" are very similar - some songs are great and others are just repeats of previous tracks.

I like JNH's compositions a lot. But this one is not up to the mark from JNH. There are some good pieces with nice violins. But many pieces remind you of the music of 'The Village' - a stunning score. Now, in my opinion there is no comparison to 'The Village'.

JNH did not do a favor to himself or to his followers by trying to repeat 'The Village'. But I would still give three stars for a work that stirring and at times intense. I also think 'Defiance' score is better than the rival 'Slumdog Millionaire' soundtrack which got an Oscar.
