wow. so this album is really, really good ... i saw this band in ann arbor, and was just kind of impressed with the diversity and quality of their sound -- rock, jazz, folk, acoustic stuff, electronic elements ... overall, just a really interesting blend of sounds all providing an interesting back-drop to some intelligent and emotional lyrics. i've found that the whole album works as a cohesive story, almost a concept album, but more of a sonic actualization of an individual's inner dialogue regarding himself and his independence, his relationship with his significant other...having seen the band live and then purchasing the album, i found that the songs were definitely translated a bit differently in front of me, but i was pleasantly surprised to enjoy almost a totally different experience listening to the album itself, with its different musical textures and the binding theme/story throughout. definitely a good purchase on my part, and i recommend it to anyone interested in interesting, quality, challenging music. i hope this band comes out with more in the future! peace. |
