5.0 out of 5 stars Believe me, this IS the definitive business plan book..., November 12, 2000

Here you have a man named Richard Stutely who was the Minister of Finance in UK, and has worked in their Stock Market Board, first rate banks and schools. He is also a very prolific writer for The Economist.

What would you expect of a book from him?.

Well, he writes in a very simple, easy to read manner. But almost in every sentence and thought one can see, feel, understand and then apply years of top management wisdom.

I consider myself an expert on this subject, I live from it, I teach and I am also a consultant. I've read thousands of ideas and walked through many best practices myself. But this IS the book.

Why?

1- It is honest 2- It teaches you to know yourself first, then where you want to go, then to know the world around you, make a strategy and finnaly how to present your way towards profits managing the risks 3- Then he shows you a very simple and important lesson; how to get your plan approved 4- And finnaly, how to avoid putting the plan in a shelve and instead how to use it for every day operations guidance 5- A book for all- no previous knowledge required 6- You can use all the chapters or costumize it for yourself 7- It is the backbone of all the other guides and software do-it-yourself in one minute type

If you want to DO IT and also UNDERSTAND what you are doing read this 300 pages beauty.

(you'll made yourself and the world business community a big favor)...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant, December 5, 2002
Written for serious professionals, and assumes a modicum of intelligence, out of all the books claiming to assist in designing a business plan, this is the only one that actually comes close to anything serious. Have a look at the sample pages to see what I mean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative and also more internationally oriented, December 12, 2002
I find this book way superior to many other books on the subject. At the same time, it approaches business plans with small boxed anecdotes and an easy-going attitude (alla "...for dummies" but a far better level). Also differences between British and U.S. accounting terms are explained, giving the book a touch of international reach. At all times you have the feeling of being in company with a very talented and experienced author.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Business Plan - review, May 12, 2007
An excellent book that takes you through start to finish on the operating principles of a business and the reasons behind each process. This provides a good framework for you to fashion what is appropriate for your business given the circumstances you are in at this point in time. The book is logically laid out, explained in simple language and very easy to apply in a practical business environment. This is the best book I have read on establishing a business plan that can either be highly operational, tactical or strategic in nature or have these elements combined in a manner that meets your current needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough, yet simple, March 20, 2011

This review is from: The Definitive Business Plan: The fast track to intelligent business planning for executives and entrepreneurs (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I had thumbed through a few other business plan books that included worksheets and other mechanisms but that format never really worked for me. This book has plenty of sample sections and examples of good and bad plans, with explanations on how to improve the bad examples.

There is also a wealth of advice for presentation and knowing how to make that positive first impression.

It takes a slight time investment to get acquainted with the book. I found myself reading the book and writing nothing for a little while before I finally started out writing my own business plan (NB, I'm only about halfway through my current plan). Once you understand the sections that apply to your specific plan, though, understanding the goal of each section becomes much clearer and nearly makes the chore of writing your plan enjoyable.

If you're serious about writing a solid business plan, take the time and go through this book, then set out on your own plan.

5.0 out of 5 stars All you ever need, September 14, 2010

This book is a hit! I have raised well over £100m in total for three different companies, including an IPO on the Main Market of LSE based on the teachings of this book. Investors love the style and it pays off. What else do you need in addition than a brilliant idea put in a right format? If you are serious about raising money, look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all in the title, June 8, 2008
This review is from: The Definitive Business Plan: The fast track to intelligent business planning for executives and entrepreneurs (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
This is the only guide you will ever need to understanding how to put a business plan together and in so doing you gain invaluable lessons on what makes business tick, from a master. I have used this book in an earlier edition, as a blueprint to attract finance for 3 ventures so I can vouch for its easy style and elegant solutions. Highly recommended whether you're starting, running or turning around a business. If you are in business you need to read this book from cover to cover and you don't need to be Einstein to understand it.
