A quality catch all release,
By Paul Lawrence "'EJL'" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Definitive Collection (Audio CD)
Pretty much the perfect AC compilation this. Rather than put you through my opinions of each of these tracks - which will be familiar to many of you anyway, I'll just point out a few things that may get you thinking or sway your decision.1) With 21 tracks this is a chock full disc. And it covers the 70's through to the early 90's. 2) It includes some of the guys art rock phase, which was always more linear than Zappas but still kinda out there. The benefit of including this stuff is that it gives the new an a real taste for the guys career. 3) Great liner notes - you get snippets of info plus a few photos and also a discography up to and including Brutal planet which also gives the actual release dates for the albums and the producer for each album. This would be a great buy for the newcomer to hard rock/metal wanting to get an education or the casual fan of a couple of AC tunes that just want's a disc that's a decent retrospective up to the turn of the century. More hardcore fans probably own all these tunes anyway so will have to decide for themselves!

They Don't Make It Like This Anymore...,
By Yuri Cunha "Juggalo" (Brazil) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Definitive Collection (Audio CD)
They don't make rock'n'roll like this these days... I'm not saying I don't like nowadays music, but nobody can make it like Alice Cooper. This compilation is, in my opinion, a must-have for any music fan out there. It doesn't matter if you like rock, pop, rap or classical music; what matters is that this CD has 21 tracks of great music, something who seems to be unknown to most bands today. My favorite songs in here are "Desperado", "Hey Stoopid", "I Never Cry", "I'm Eighteen", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "Only Women Bleed" and "Teenage Lament '74". These songs are just awesome, you must listen them to know what I'm saying. The message of this review is simple: buy this CD, it's awesome. I don't need to explain anything more, this is the Definitive Alice Cooper compilation and you should take it home.

Basically,a 21-track compilation of Cooper's big hits, plus some of those 'deep album cuts' that us old school Alice Cooper fans never really grow tired of hearing.Tunes like his Jim Morrison tribute "Desperado","Halo Of Flies"(I about sh** my pants when I saw him play this song on his 'Rock&Roll Carnival Tour' a few years ago),"Hello Hooray","Generation Landslide"(nice harp work),"Teenage Landslide '74" and "From The Inside".Very nice.

Almost The Greatest Hits Of Early Alice,
By Micheal Hunt (Hellbourne) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Definitive Collection (Audio CD)
This abum is not so much a greatest hits, as more a best of the early days. But then the last 2 tracks are from albums 10 years after the last.If it where my choice, i'd have not included Hey Stoopid and Poison, and instead have put in Go To Hell and Clones. Tho, it's hard to pick "best of lists" for Alice.... after 30 years of hits after hits, Alice should quit coming out with a million compilation and greatest hits type albusm every year and just release a box set with every album and call that "the best of Alice" |
