This is the third compilation album of Nena which includes material from her days with the original Nena band as well as those from her days as a solo artist. The additional cd provides an extremely welcome bonus since it includes material from her days with the Stripes band, several years before she formed the original Nena band. Of the 24 tracks included in this double cd album, 3 com from her album THE STRIPES( "Strangers", "Tell Me Your Name", and "Don't You Think That I'm a Lady", 5 come from her NENA album( "Nur getraeumt", "99 Luftballons", "Leuchtturm", "Vollmond", and "Ich bleib' im Bett", 4 come from her ?( FRAGEZEICHEN ) album("?( Fragezeichen ), "Rette mich", "Lass mich dein Pirate sein", and "Unerkannt durchs Maerchenland", 1 comes from her album 99 LUFTBALLONS/INTERNATIONAL( "99 Red Balloons", Club-Mix ), 4 come from her FEUER UND FLAMME album( "Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann", "Feuer und Flamme", "Haus der drei Sonnen", and "Du kennst die Liebe nicht", 1 comes from her album IT'S ALL IN THE GAME( "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" ) 2 come from her album EISBRECHER( "Tokyo" and "Mondsong" ), 1 comes from her album WUNDER GESCHEH'N( "Wunder gescheh'n" ), 2 come from her album BONGO GIRL( "Manchmal ist ein Tag ein ganzes Leben" and "Bongo Girl" ), and one comes from the 12" vinyl maxi-single FEUER UND FLAMME( "Ibiza" ). As the longest compilation of Nena music, I highly recommend this to everyone. Please try to get the double cd album version because it has six additional songs/song versions in the extra cd and the single cd version has only 18 songs.

This CD really encompasses Nena's entire career. This CD will not dissapoint any Nena fan.

This is a great collection of hits, great song selection. I would definitely recommend it.

Ever since I have re-discovered Nena last month with her 2003's 20 Jahre (Revised) collection, I have been on a quest to find her music either at any of my local record stores or online. I recently bought her Definitive Collection a few weekends ago. I really wanted to hear the original versions of the songs on 20 Jahre so this was the ideal compilation for me. Definitive Collection is an enjoyable collection of Nena's pop hits. It is a shame that she was totally written off by America as a one hit wonder. I find myself enjoying her music immensely. Her music is loaded with catchy pop hooks like "Leuchtturm", "Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann", and of course "99 Luftballoons". As much as I enjoy this collection, I felt the compilation dragged on a little too much. I think a few songs could have or should have been left off like the dreadful "Bongo Girl" and the mediocre "Tokyo".

Somehow, I thought I read somewhere that this contained the club mix of 99 Red Balloons, but it wasn't there! Thank God that I found a Japanese release several days after that actually contained that song that I've been looking for. Aside from that song, I completely agree with the German reviewer, although I can't say I could possibly hate the 80's as much - let's just pretend it never happened - that's the stance Dee-lite took when they released their "World Clique" album in the early 90's. Nice packaging, here, but not worth the music contained.

AAAHHHH the 80's! Duran Duran, Karate Kid, Birth of Capitalism. Can you tell any subject of the 80's that wasn't horrible ( without using the words IRON MAIDEN! )? Nena is the proove that the 80s were the worst decade ever, she is the musical equal to the intentions of "American Psycho". In my ears, the sound of a table that gets scrathed by 4 inch fingernails is less uncomfortable than hearing her voice. Oooh, what a great vocalist that somehow manages to be more annoying in every song I hear of her. Oooh, what an original Band! The background music is more elevator-style than anything else, and could be created by 2-year olds. I live in Germany where she comes from, and she/it makes me hate this place even more. Avoid, unless you still think that the 80s were cool!!
