George Jones disciple smilin' Sammy Kershaw was one of the '90s top country stars. This disc contains all 23 of his top 40 hits for the Mercury label (1991-2000).

Sammy's early singles were mostly high-octane efforts like "Cadillac Style," "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," "Third-Rate Romance." His 1997 signature hit "Love Of My Life," however, led him in the direction of country crooner. While it's a gem - as are other ballads like the Lorrie Morgan duet "Maybe Not Tonight" and the heartbreaker "Matches" - the rowdier numbers clearly show that honky-tonkin' is what Sammy does best.

This Definitive collection is just what it claims to be (a rarity in music marketing). It includes more hits than his two collections CHAPTER 1 and CHAPTER 2 combined, with such favorites as "Fit To Be Tied Down," "If You're Gonna Walk, I'm Gonna Crawl," and the philosophical "One Day Left To Live" finally making it onto a Kershaw Anthology. Everyone undoubtably has their favorite album tracks (mine include the rowdy "Louisiana Hot Sauce" and his cover of Sammy Johns' "Chevy Van"). But if you are just looking for the hits, you will never do better than this comprehensive set.

Sammy Kershaw lives the songs he sings, and brings those songs to life with his honest, pure, soulful country voice. He IS the every man, singing songs every man and woman can understand, relate to and appreciate. He pours himself into each and every song which only helps bind the connections of those songs to each person listening. His robust style, great voice, and immense talent lend themselves to his music, tying the hearts, emotions and memories of the listeners together just as though he was singing them directly to us, or for us. Music has had great singers/performers in history, but none have surpassed Sammy in the last 30 years!

I bought this album primarily for his '97 hit "Love Of My Life"...I was up north in the Yukon and preparing for a nice day-long roadtrip the night before... their local music store was closing and I had to buy a last-minute CD for some good tunes - so I picked Sammy Kershaw, and boy was it ever worth it! "Yard Sale" is one of my favourites, among a few others. Overall, great CD...one of my personal favourites in my whole collection and has somewhat more or less converted me into a new Sammy Kershaw fan. Well worth the money. Definately a great alternative and relief to what I hear mostly on the "country" radio stations nowadays...

Sammy is amazing! Southern rock and a powerful style that grabs you with tuneful hits magnificently delivered by a twangy, memmorable voice...What an entertainer! He should be right up there with the best of 'em... The Travis Tritt and Brooks & Dunn fans should flock to Sammy!

This is a great album by Sammy Kershaw who is classic country. My favorite song is "Third Rate Romance" which is even better than the original version by The Amazing Rythm Aces".

A solid performance by a singer who doesn't receive enough praise for his singing talents. It's a keeper, and a CD that I will listen to often.
