As the operator of the largest domestic donkey rescue in California, I recommend this book to all of my adopters. While not as "in-depth" as some, this book offers a great over view of donkeys, their history, training, and their personalities. This is the first book anybody considering donkey ownership/adoption should read.

A general textbook on all breeds, sizes and types of American donkeys. Miniature, Standard and Mammoth. It also has a chapter on breeds of the world. This is written for the general use of all donkey owners from the owner of one pet to the owner of a breeding herd. A very complete chapter on training from birth to finished riding and driving animal is included. All subjects having to do with donkeys are covered.

I found this book very helpful. Iam a horse owner who recently became the proud owner of a baby donkey. This book was extremely helpful in teaching me how to care for this wonderful animal. It is simple and easy to understand. I would highly recommend it for anyone who has a donkey.
