4.0 out of 5 stars british garage, November 25, 1999

joe garage (northern N.Y.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Definitive Downliners Sect (Audio CD)
this is raw garage r&b, british style from the 60's.It's along the same lines asthe early Stones and Pretty Things only a tad cruder. There are a few novelty songs which are an acquired taste but mostly it's nirvana.

5.0 out of 5 stars Downliners Sect - 'The Definitive Downliners Sect: Singles A's And B's' (See For Miles), October 30, 2009
This review is from: Definitive Downliners Sect (Audio CD)
Total of 29 tracks of singles - both A side + B side of 7" singles the Downliners Sect had released. Like other similar titles as such, this 'Singles A's And B's' side collection is {almost} as stunning as the other titles I've heard before by bands from the same era like Q 65, Outsiders, Zombies - to name a few. Tunes that certainly did it for me are their Elias McDaniel cover "Cadillac", a Check Berry song that I myself don't remember "Beautiful Delilah", Booker T And The MG's "Green Onions", "Wreck Of The Old '97", the memorable "Leader Of The Sect", "Bad Storm Coming" (amazing harmany vocals), the toe-tapping "Lonely And Blue" and "He Was A Square". An absolute must-have.
