2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed, not my style!
The book is OK. Photos are not all that great (some blurry and out of focus, obviously amature). Most of the dolls are modern and mass produced. I was hoping that there would be more artist creations, one of a kinds, limited editions, and antiques. Instead there are a bunch of plastic/vinyl manufactured dolls with just a few quality pieces sprinkled in. I only...

This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls (Paperback)
The name says it all! This is THE Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls. With gorgeous, color photos from cover to cover, it surpasses all expectations! I've never seen a book so lovely AND informative. It contains detailed information and wonderful photos of all types of Black dolls. I read the entire book the same day I received it. I could not put it down. It is obviously a true labor of love. There is NO other book that comes remotely close. I give it two thumbs up and rate it a 20 on a scale of 1 to 5!

This is a MUST HAVE for every library. It's not just for the collector, it is for everybody. If you buy only one book this decade, make it The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls. You will LOVE it! Already, I am looking forward to Volumes 2, 3, 4, etc. Thank you Debbie Garrett for writing THE book of the century!! Your book is awesome!

There are dolls made of almost every material imaginable from cloth to bisque, and dolls manufactured well over a century ago as well as the very contemporary Diana Ross and Michael Jackson dolls.

This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls (Paperback)
This book is well over due and essential to anyone who collects black dolls. Both the new and seasoned collector will find an array of highly collectible dolls. This book is so important because it is rare to find information regarding black dolls and their values in print, or the internet. I anticipate using the book as a reference for many years to come as I suspect others will too. I highly recommend that you go and purchase this book ASAP!!! Much thanks to Ms. Garrett for writing this guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative andinsightful, July 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls (Paperback)
"The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls" by Debbie Garrett, is full of sharp, rich color photographs. Every doll, on every page is in color. By contrast, my other books of Black dolls are in black and white. Each chapter gives a brief description and/or history of the how and why of the material used in making the dolls to be discussed. The "The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls", is an informative book for the collector, and non-collector alike.
