4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, one star shy of "definitive"
Mr. Covington's excellent and informative book was filled with ideas and resources for writers. The book contains less than 75 pages, distributed in 9 chapters, and touches on a variety of writing opportunities such as blogs, sales letter writing, and press releases. In each chapter, he clearly defines each type of writing opportunity, and provides advantages and...

If you have principles, do not buy this book. The author says straight up in one section that he bought a business on ebay for $1,100 and found that he was ripped off - the business was just a website template. Funny thing is, he just turned around and sold it at the same price on ebay, ruining someone else's finances as well.

If you have principles, do not buy this book. The author says straight up in one section that he bought a business on ebay for $1,100 and found that he was ripped off - the business was just a website template. Funny thing is, he just turned around and sold it at the same price on ebay, ruining someone else's finances as well.

He says in the book that when writing web content, you should not do any editing - just slap some content on the page and send it out. This is exactly what he did with this book, it's obvious. It has not been edited. He self-published it in the same unscrupulous way that he ran every "business" that he has had.

There is zero relevant or useful info in this book. He just talks about 4 or 5 businesses which he ran, having desperate writers work for him, and calls it "the definitive guide to making money online".. yeah, if you're a crook like him.

Who has been reviewing this pile of garbage?

Mr. Covington's excellent and informative book was filled with ideas and resources for writers. The book contains less than 75 pages, distributed in 9 chapters, and touches on a variety of writing opportunities such as blogs, sales letter writing, and press releases. In each chapter, he clearly defines each type of writing opportunity, and provides advantages and disadvantages of each type of writing, along with some advice on future opportunities and his opinions on market domination for each type of writing. The book is an invaluable source of relevant websites. Within a day of completing the book, I had found no less than a half-dozen potential writing gigs as a direct result of his recommendations. My sole criticism of the book is the lack of info on marketing. As he opted to title the book "The DEFINITIVE Guide to Making Money Online with Your Writing" I feel a chapter on marketing would certainly be appropriate. NOTE: I sent an email to the author describing my criticism and received a response on the SAME DAY, advising me he was close to completing an entire book on internet marketing. Based on the book I just read from this author, as well as his quick response, I am certain to purchase it. Overall, a very strong recommendation for Mr. Covington's highly informative and inspirational book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting topic., February 25, 2010

This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing (Paperback)
This book is a good resource for anyone who is trying to get into freelance writing. The author includes several areas of need and a way to get your foot in the door. He takes each topic, such as blogging, and explains what is needed, how much growth can be expected, how to make contact with potential clients, and most importantly how much the pay is. The book is laid out in an easy to read format which makes it great for beginners to use.

This book is not going to make you rich. The author even says that most of the people that do freelance writing in this manner are looking for a little extra income. If you like to write and are looking into new avenues of earning a little extra cash, then this is a good book for you.

Clark Covington has written a book that not only fills you with great information about making money by using your talent as a writer, but it also motivates you to get out there and do something. He takes a look at a few of the areas of writing available including blogs, newsletters, and webpage content. He explains how to find these jobs, what pay to expect, and the pros and cons associated with each type of job.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is written from experience, which gives it an added edge. It is also written in plain conversational language. There are no fancy words or catch phrases to try and draw the reader in or lull them with false promises. After reading this book, I am curious to see if I have what it takes to take on a few writing tasks

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and very informative, February 22, 2010

This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing (Paperback)
Okay, the Internet is about information, but it is also about how and who harnesses this information and how it can be processed and handled to make someone money.

The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online with Your Writing takes a very clear, detailed and honest look at this very subject. Author Covington is very open about what and how you can make money on the Net - and while some of his comments might have surprised me, I was also thinking "that makes sense" - when it comes to being at the head of the line and making money, you gotta take the bull by the horns and just go for it.

In this book Covington takes a look at the close association between the Net, writing and making money out of it. It would seem that the 3 things seem to naturally merge together and that it is quite doable to successfully have a writing career through the Net. If you are willing to keep an open mind and really think about some of the suggestions in this book - you can benefit from your skills as a writer and from the Net.

Very interesting and to the point type of book - just the way I like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spare change on the side if you can write well., February 21, 2010
This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing (Paperback)
To anyone that wonders how all the articles get published on the internet and how business is generated should read this book. Once you have read it then it will no longer be a mystery to you. If you have ever thought of becoming a free lance writer then there are some good tips in this book for you on how some of the business works. In this book titled "The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing" by Clark Covington you get to read about a few of his personal experiences with his ups and downs personally and then his experiences with the internet and the bumps and bruises he took along the way.

It is when he found something that worked for him you could feel the change in his writing. I found the terms and definitions for "Press Releases, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Newsletters, and Sales letters" as it pertained to free lance writing interesting. I never realized there was that much money to be made in online freelance writing. At the same time Clark does point out it is not all gravy. It sounds interesting if you are trying to make some money on the side and he even provided a few sites you could go to if you wanted to check it out. All in all the book is interesting and informative on a basic level which is sometimes what we need to move forward on the next project in this fast pace of technology.

4.0 out of 5 stars A look inside the world of free lance writing..., February 19, 2010

In today's economy, everyone is looking to make just a little more here and there to fund their vices or simply to make ends meet. One opportunity often missed is that of the freeland writer. The world of writing appeals to so many on a multitude of levels, but without the guidance and knowledge of someone that has "been there, done that", they can be treachorous waters to tread. 'The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online with Your Writing' by Clark Covington strives to offer a "virtual" helping hand to those looking to strike out in this ever-blossoming market. From the types of positions available to the services one can offer to potential business partners....even a few life examples from his own experiences are thrown in to show the reader it can be done.

For myself, I took more from the informational aspect of the book than the actual experience. I've not entertained the thought of becoming a writer on any level previously....but I do feel that after reading this book I have gained a little more of an insiders perspective on the overall process.

4.0 out of 5 stars Freelancing Prospects, February 19, 2010
This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing (Paperback)
I'm one of those writers who collects books on writing. Although my primary interest lies in writing fiction (and there was very little about fiction writing opportunities in this book) I still found this book to be helpful. Clark lists and defines about eight different types of writing activities. This is helpful, because if you're a newbie freelancer, you need to know what types of services you can offer and what types of jobs you will be bidding for.

He also gives us examples from his own experiences and even gives some tips on how to approach both the business and writing aspects of freelancing. For me, this created a general picture in my head, allowing me to formulate my own plan. The true novice may need more help - with both the writing and the business aspects of freelancing. But Clark shares examples of his own work and suggests where you can find others, thus giving you a guide to help you as you practice writing and hone your skills.

This review is from: The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing (Paperback)
"The Definitive Guide to Making Money Online With Your Writing" by Clark R. Covington is a must-have addition to your writing library. In this short book, Mr. Covington gets right to the point and gives well-thought out and detailed examples of writing markets that he has discovered and used to great success. He outlines many examples from writing web content to SEO article writing. He also gives many concrete ways to find potential writing goldmines, future writing opportunities, and the pros and cons of each writing market. He also peppers his books with amusing anecdotes of his meteoric rise from being destitute to owning several successful online writing businesses in a few short months. After reading this book, I felt inspired to start my own online editorial business.
This book is a great gem.
