What a witty and clever fellow this Ed Bergin is to have put together such a unique collection of funny funeral-related stories, headstone epitaphs, and quotes about death. While death isn't a laughing matter, this book proves that funny things happen when you're dealing with people, dead or alive. It's great to see that funeral professionals working under the most stressful conditions have occasional reasons to laugh. If you have an advanced sense of humor, you will appreciate this book. It's not for stiffs.

Well, there have been 6 reviews of 'Underground Humor' before me. With the obvious contrast of the reviews being all or nothing. I can only speculate that those negative reviews are from persons who have never worked in the funeral industry. My wife and I are both from the death care background and we both loved it as well as many of our associates. The only friend of ours that did not appreciate the book has never been part of the funeral biz, nor does he ever want to be part of it. So go figure. Well, as I see it, if you're in the biz, you'll love it, if not, oh well..... I give it two well-embalmed thumbs up.

This is an interesting, small (95 pages) book filled with funeral and related humor. It's not for everyone, but many readers will enjoy the humor as related by "funeral workers." The major topics include Quaint Quotes, Ridiculous Removals and Funeral Arrangements, Wacky Wakes, Funny Funerals, and Hilarious Headstones. There are about 120 different stories, jokes and miscellaneous included. It makes for interesting reading and can bring you some smiles. Those who are offended by humor related to death and dying will not appreciate the book. Other readers will enjoy it. It's a change from the ordinary.

This book pokes fun at the normally morbid lives of undertakers. A great table top book.

I really beleive that there is life after death. And because of this, my passion is to help people face their loved ones death. This book has truly set me on fire with laughter. I've always thought that I'd make a good mortician. I'm now pursuing a degree at the U.Of Mn. Mortuary Science program. Wish me luck. I'm staring full-time this summer, and will apply to the degree program next year

This is one of the greatest books I've ever read. I personally dislike humor...unless it's morbid...or about death....or epitaphs......and this book is perfect. Ed Bergin is a wonderful writer....He looks @ death's "lighter side"....I highly recommend this book ....Some of the tales are "to die for!"...Pun so intended. Enjoy. ;) Don't be ascared...heh.

I agree with the reviewers who observed that familiarity with the death care industry was probably necessary to get the hilarity of this book. You need to be on a nodding acquaintance with death to get past the heebie-jeebies that most people would probably feel. But enough about them. I like the mention that we come into the world crying so we should exit laughing. Yup, that's what it's all about.

This book is pretty funny, but when I read parts I thought were particularly funny to non Death Care folks..well they just didn't see how it was humorous...

It is the job of a book with 'Humor' in its title to be funny. "Underground Humor" misses the mark, and by a considerable amount at that. I come, as you can see, to bury "Underground Humor", not to praise it.

This book was very boring. I actually fell asleep while reading it. Most of the Epitaphs were from London, and they wern't even "Hilarious" as the title says. Most of the quotes were just plain dumb. I returned the book.
