Amazing, beautiful, transcendent, April 19, 2010
This review is from: Definitive McCoy Tyner (Audio CD)
So I was listening to a radio program on NPR called "To The Point", and during one of those mini-breaks, I hear this mind-bending jazz trio piece (turns out it has more instruments, but they don't jump in 'til after the 1-minute clip). Thankfully, I had the Shazam app on my phone, which informed me I was listening to the Peresina recording from "The Definitive McCoy Tyner." I haven't ever been a jazz afficionado... until now. This album has opened up a whole new world for me. I've been sampling lots of Tyner recordings via iTunes, Amazon, etc., and this CD seems to be the highest quality collection. I very highly recommend!
