-First of all: Sam & Dave are great. This is soul-pop at it's best, and even if you haven't heard OF them (where HAVE you been living?!) I'm sure you have heard them (my first recollection of knowing their names was the Blues Brothers-film).
-Second: The collection is good, but could have been better. The sound is good, the hits are there, but why why why only 15 songs on each CD?!!! These are short (3 minutes at the most) songs! They could have given us a cheaper 1CD 20-25 song collection, or a GOOD 2CD 40-50 song collection (I'm not sure how much material Sam & Dave actually made, but surely...). Also why include ONLY a live version (the only live version on the 2 CDs) of "Sooth Me"?! Come on!
So, summing up: It's a good, but FAAAAR from geat (much less the ultimate) collection. The price/content equation is not in your favor. That said, if you have the money to spend, better music is hard to find.

I completely agree with the review by Zippo (above or below). Sam & Dave are a legendary duo and as great as this music is, it is a disservice to them. The CD title is "Definitive" and this sadly is not. If it was they would not have included only a live version of "Soothe Me. If would have been great to fill this up with the required tracks and live versions. Definitive means "ultimate", "perfect" "the best".
