Customer Reviews

These mounts are perfect and look great once installed.
L. McDurmon
Even though the mount is designed to hold up to 8 lbs., the ball joint couldn't keep the weight up and the speaker will sag to the floor.
Clint C. Watson
Seriously, the mounts work perfectly with the wall mounted speakers.

The mounts work fine and hold the speakers from my Pro Cinema 800 series in multiple positions fine. I just can't beleive they don't provide some screws for $40.

I recently purchased some Energy CB-5 speakers. Since this is the first pair of speakers that I decided to mount I figured I would go with mount from a decent brand. These took me about 20 minutes to put up and get my speakers mounted. You do have to use channel locks or a big pair of pliers to wrench the thing tight enough, however, this didn't really bother me. My speakers have been up for almost a week and have yet to move a millimeter. Speakers weigh 6.6 lbs each.

Bought these Def Tech Pro Mount 80 brackets to mount my Definitive Technology Pro Monitor 1000's(front Mains) and Pro Monitor 800's(Rear Surround). The brackets mount easily to the wall, especially if you can grab a stud. If not those wall anchors are necessary(better get good anchors for heavier speakers). The brackets hold the 800's great. Only needed to hand tighten the clamp and the speakers weren't moving. The 1000's however, because they are heavier, required more than just hand tightening the clamp. I needed to tighten it using channel lock pliers. Once I did that the 1000's didn't move/sag down out of position from the weight of the speaker. They make Pro Mount 90's which might be better for the 1000's, but BB did not have them and I did not want to wait. The 80's worked anyway, even for the 1000's, once I tightened the clamp with pliers. So far so good.

I installed these guys today along with running the speaker wires in the wall. The mounts don't allow for a wire to pass through them (not that many do). Mounting hardware isn't included so I ended up using some anchors and screws I had sitting around. I'd recommend unscrewing the big plastic tension nut completely and separating the mount into two pieces to make the install easier. Screw the base of the mount to the wall and screw the other end into the speaker. Connect the wire, place the big plastic tension nut back on and push the pieces back together and tighten. Btw, I'm using these with some Pro monitor 800's.

These mounts work ok. They are definitely strong enough to hold the smaller surround speakers, if mounted properly. The problem is the range of motion. If I had to do it again, I would've spent the extra money for the 90 series.... Strictly for the increased range of motion. Other than that, they're fine.

I bought the mounts for a pair of Definitive Mythos Gems that I use for surround speakers. The Gems are within the weight guidelines for the wall brackets and I have had no problem with the speakers' stability on the wall. One of my mounts is screwed into a wall stud and is extremely stable. The other one is held in place by screw-in drywall anchors. Using the appropriate amount of muscle when tightening the bracket provided a sturdy, well-mounted speaker without pulling out the drywall anchors. The brackets look good and are unobtrusive behind the Gems.

I have always been one of those ones that a long screw is enough tilt to just wall mount them. And then i moved in to a setup that would have to be done in a diamond shape room. Eww. Not the best but this made it work. I tried wall mounting but i would have needed a 5 inch screw or longer to get the tilt i needed. These are pricey for the full set but the sound def improved from just the screw mount
