4.0 out of 5 stars Nice match, but I had to alter the stands a bit, July 28, 2011

I own a 7.2 Definitive Technology setup, consisting of 4 Mythos STS's, 1 Mythos Ten, 2 Gem Xl's and 2 Super cube References. I Recently made the purchases to go from a 7.2 to a 9.4 setup adding 2 more Gem XL's and 2 more Super cube References. I wanted to get some really nice stands for my Gem XL's. Even though the stands are probably a better match for the Mythos Gems I figured I would give them a shot anyways. My only issue and it was a major issue to me, was that I use the Dayton Audio Speaker Cables with already made banana plugs for my entire setup. You can also find these speaker cables on Amazon. I have used a million different speaker wires in my life of all sizes and gages since the early 90's and they have always sounded the same until I used the Dayton audio cables. The Dayton audio cables made me hear things in my music and movies that I have never heard before, vocals are much clearer bass is more full and the sound is even louder at the same exact volume. So I was pretty heated when I opened up the speaker stands when they arrived and there was less than an inch of space to put your speaker wires in the mythos speaker once they had been mounted. So I immediately went to home depot and bought a dremmel 4000 for around $90 and proceed to cut a 7x2 inch rectangular whole in the Back of the stands so my speaker cables would fit. It took around and 1/2 hours for all four of them, some really numb hands, my house smelling like the dentist office and viola!!!! they worked like a charm. Other than that it would have been nice if they would have had a hole in the back of the stand and if the base of the stand was slightly larger and heavier. Like I said before they are probably a better match for the Gems since they may be smaller. I do recommend them but if you use something other than plain old speaker wire you may want to look at the stands before you purchase them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great looking stands, October 30, 2010
These look really nice with my black Mythos Gems. I dithered about going cheap with such a nice looking DefTech system, but now that I see them mounted I prefer the silver-black contrast over matching black stands. I only rated four stars because the plate glass base is not as heavy as the metal base on my old Sanus stands, and it might shatter if the stand is knocked over. A metal base would be more practical, but that choice is not available. Silver is the discontinued color; you should not be paying full price for it. I bought silver because much cheaper ($49.99 at the auction site that begins with an "ebay").

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW - Beautiful Speaker Stands - Easily works with other speakers!, February 4, 2009
I would have paid full price for these speaker stands if I had seen them in person.

These can easily be modified to mount any speaker (only needed if your speaker mount is a different thread than the Definitive one) by just removing the screw that holds the Definitive speaker in place and inserting your own proper thread screw. It took me 5 minutes to make these work perfectly with my Polk Audio VM10 surround speakers.

These are beautiful well crafted stands and do a great job of concealing the speaker wire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great looking stands, December 12, 2008
I actually have the black definitive speakers, but heck, you couldn't beat the price of the silver stands and they look just fine with the different colored speakers.
