Run, don't walk people. It's that good., October 5, 2007
This review is from: Deflowering Waldo - Acting Edition (Paperback)
Tolstoy famously wrote that "All happy families resemble one another, but
each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." The family of Adam Szymkowicz's Deflowering Waldo is one of the most hilariously unhappy to come around in a long time. Fresh, funny and thoroughly theatrical, this love story is built on a series of cheerfully anarchic one-liners that bring to mind Groucho Marx by way of early Woody Allen. The disarmingly touching conclusion of such a furiously outlandish story is near-magic. If a production comes to your town, go see it. But don't hold off purchasing Deflowering Waldo, because this intelligent, very contemporary play is a pure pleasure to read.
