Psychadelic Blues heavy fusion,
By Artur Antonio Fonseca Costa (Porto, Portugal) - See all my reviews

I can only say what heart tells me. I have this record since 1972 and even today I listen to it with emotion. "Bye Bye Blues", "I'll never be lonely" are simply marvelous. The guitar solos are unique, the drums are stunning, voice was never repeated and bass is good. I wonder why so few people bought this LP back them. All the music is unique! It's all.

Turn on the defroster ...,
By Lance Ritchlin (Denver) - See all my reviews

With this puppy available on CD, I won't have to scour downtown Denver anymore, looking for used eight-track players. This band deserved more success than it received but failed to "brand" itself. (Forgive the marketing terminology. What can I say -- I sold out YEARS ago.) Ironically, the popularity of Frigid Pink's first hit, House of the Rising Sun, was probably the first step toward the band's undoing. It established the Pinksters as a cover band without their own identity. The best cut on this, their follow-up album, is Pain in My Heart, which seems to be incorrectly listed as Pain in My Head. Wonderful, straight-up rock with few surprises.

Frijid Pink - 'Defrosted' (Repertoire),
By
This review is from: Defrosted (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1970, as this was the band's follow-up to their self-titled album (see my review). Some say Frijid Pink SHOULD have been a huge success. Tracks here that I dug the most were "Black Lace", the common-sounding "Sing A Song For Freedom" (you'll SWEAR you've heard another band perform this song, but it's certainly not a cover), the lengthy eight-minute "Pain In My Heart" and "I Haven't Got The Time". Thought 'Defrosted' was more in the hard rock vein, and maybe less psych than the first lp. This CD reissue has four(4) bonus cuts tagged on, that didn't do much for me. They've just got too much of a definite soul 'vibe' to it. Still, the original album is somewhat of a keeper.

Best hard rock, and totally forgotten,
By ayosha (London, UK) - See all my reviews

Defrosted is the peak perfomance of Frijid Pink, (known for a hit House of the rising sun). It is heavy, bluesy, and comes deep down from the heart. The voice is deep, raspy and smoky, the guitars are sensitive and powerfull the bas and the drums steady and never boring. And then they dissapeared. Black Lace and Bye Bye Blues are my favorites. If you like In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Iron Butterfly) and Hartbreaker (Grand Funk) this is your number.

Frijid Pink is Solid,

Long story short. Tired of the same old music and finally found FP. I loved their first album or CD I should say and rated it stating I ordered Defrosted because I liked the first CD so much. I also said I would be happy if Defrosted was half as good. I'm happy, but the first was indeed better. I would still highly recommend this CD. I wonder how far these guys could have went if the original band would have stuck together.

On a desert island with "Defrosted",
By Ian E. R. Little (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Defrosted (Audio CD)
This would definitely be one of 5 albums to have while stranded on a desert island. "I'll Never Be Lonely", "Black Lace" and "I Havent Got The Time" rank up there on my 4ever play list and have shown up on numerous compilation cassettes I have created over the past 2 decades. Guaranteed heartfelt, great listening... rootsy and raw,, will not disappoint.

Very Pleasantly Surprised!!,

I bought this cd just because I enjoyed their first one so much. This one is probably better than the first, to my surprise. I can't believe this band wasn't huge, the should have been. If you love classic rock with some blues thrown in, you'll love this cd and their first one as well.
