Every chapter contains critical, value multiplying information that is both practical and results oriented. The principles in this book are a valuable addition to the field of corporate strategy.
-Wayne Hurlbert, Blog Business World
If your business is growing more rapidly and profitably than you ever dreamed, you can afford to ignore this book (at least for now). But if it’s more like the other 98% of businesses—struggling to keep up with the pace of market change and maintain profitable growth—Rebel Brown’s Defy Gravity may very well provide your flight plan for resumed or continued growth and success.
Rebel Brown speaks from experience! A true agent of change, she has spent the last 20 years insuring that her clients get ahead and stay ahead in a competitive marketplace. Her popular programs deliver actionable strategies that can be implemented for immediate results! She is the author of Defy Gravity: Propel Your Business to High Velocity Growth as well as several e-books and video programs. Her popular blog, "Rebel With a Cause" is read by thousands weekly.
Besides speaking and writing, she has vast consulting experience in shifting corporate perspective regarding strategy, positioning for advantage and change. She has worked with US and European venture firms to successfully fund and launch companies. She also ran a consulting practice in Paris for two years, bringing European firms to the United States for expanded opportunity.
Organizations that want to embrace change and stay relevant in their market count on Rebel Brown to deliver ... and she does!
Rebel is a refreshing voice in a sea of regurgitated business rhetoric. Change is constant. As such, we need innovative frameworks that reshape our thinking about the status quo, change, our legacy assumptions and strategy. Rebel steps in to the intersection of flight and business strategy and shares a metaphor that challenges our suppositions of the past, present and future.
I almost hesitate to call this the best business book of 2010. I hesitate only because it may just be the best book of any kind, period. The business principles discussed by Rebel are very sound but so many of the concepts apply to our personal lives as well. I cannot imagine anyone who wouldn't benefit from this book.
There are many great books out there with similar content, and most are about as enjoyable to read as watching paint dry. What truly sets Rebel Brown's Defy Gravity apart from the pack is the ease with which it reads. With every example, every point and every story it's like having a close friend sharing their experience with you. This book is alive with powerful insights into what it takes to succeed in a world where gravity holds us down. It's a great title because if you follow Rebel's advice it's hard to imagine anyone not breaking the bonds of gravity to excel in whatever they do.
If it sounds as if I really like this book, you are wrong; I really love this book. I've read it twice and I'll read it again, I'll buy it for the people I care about and I'll suggest it to my business associates. I recommend it to you today. It is simply too good a book not to read!
Because this book will certainly get your engines revved up! The author opens with astute examples that prove "if you do what you've always done you'll always get what you've always had" is NOT true. In fact, if you do what you've always done you'll lose momentum and encounter drag that will pull you down to earth and into a rut. This brilliant (and funny) collection of wisdom proceeds right on to instructions and examples for how to "defy gravity" and move your business (and you can so easily apply it to ALL aspects of your life) onward and UPward!
