From School Library Journal
Gr 7-10--Sanders, who played for the San Francisco 49ers in their Super Bowl Championship 1994-95 season and is an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, is the subject of this rather disjointed biography. Klein gives a cursory look at his subject's childhood and high school athletic endeavors, then concentrates on his accomplishments at Florida State University and in the pros. Those not well versed on this athlete will be thoroughly confused by the account of his professional baseball and football careers, as the author jumps from year to year and team to team rather than presenting events in anything resembling chronological order. Those who get through the book will have read a rather idealized portrayal of Sanders. His highly publicized run-in with the law over a motorcycle incident in Cincinnati isn't mentioned. Black-and-white photographs are included, and the text is documented with endnotes. Since Sanders is likely to excel on the sporting front for a number of years to come, additional YA biographies on him are bound to be published. Wait for a better one.
