This is a CD Single for House Music Fans,

If you are into hip hop, you will probably only like the album version. The other tracks on this single are house remixes and will appeal to a completely different audience. The Freemasons Club mix is a disco house mix and it virtually removes all the hip hop stylings of the song. Naturally, this will not appeal to Beyonce's base audience, but for the house lovers, this is magic. For those who are not familiar, Freemasons have been turning the club scene upside down for the past year, or so, having remixed Faith Evan's "Mesmerized", Jamiroquai's "Don't Give Hate A Chance", Heather Headley's "In My Mind" (Freemasons mix was never released on CD), Supafly, Inc. "Moving Too Fast", and most recently, Luther Vandross' "Shine". There are samples of the Freemasons' mix of Shine on the "Ultimate Luther Vandross" CD around on the web. Although, there are not many other samples of their work available, the Freemasons remix singles are widely popular in Europe, and largely ignored by the US market, since we have veered in the hip hop/rap direction. However, they are well worth searching for. If you are a house fan, I think you should check the Deja Vu remixes out.

Great Remixes,

Freemasons do an excellent job on "Deja Vu". This sounds like a completely new song and very catchy. It would be great to have Beyonce & Jay-Z's "Deja Vu (Freemasons Club Mix & Edit)" on the new album.

It's OKAY,

Yeah, "Deja Vu" is just okay. It's not fantastic, it's not bad, it's just okay but forgetable. Beyonce's voice sounds really strained towards the middle of the song.I keep hearing that "Deja Vu" has a Michael Jackson "Off The Wall" vibe to it, but I guess I missed it becauses I don't hear any resemblence. It actualy sounds more like the remix to "Crazy In Love." Jay-Z doesn't add anything to the song either. Other than that I recommend listening to "Deja Vu" by Dionne Warwick, Teena Marie, or Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz.

What a let down! I only like the cut Deja Vu and MAYBE Irreplaceable. That is it! And then I was disappointed with Deja Vu because the music was not like in her live performances. Not as energetic. And the other songs -- I cannot even understand what she is saying. WHATEVER. It actually sounds like she did it in two days instead of two weeks. Just thrown together!

Well here's another one,

Well, Beyonce did it again...another cd but only this time it didn't compliment her at all. She said that she put this cd together in 2 weeks-well it sure sounds like it!! It's not your typical Beyonce cd. Now, don't get me wrong I'm all for Beyonce I've liked her since way back Destiny's Child but this cd just doesn't do her any justice. Even though I think this cd is not good it will probably go platinum just because it's BEYONCE and everybody wants to see what she's come up with since she hasn't been out in a while. All in all, I would not waist my money on this. Right now, I'm rating this as a "must play over and over and over again to like it" in other words it's really going to have to grow on me. Did I mention over and over again??

just ok,
This review is from: Deja Vu (Audio CD)
I think Beyonce has talent&is one of those Musical Acts with that Certain "IT",but at the same time her musical tendency's tend to be over the top. vocally she goes overboard&over things tend to bring down her attempts at what she is trying to get to. this song is just part 2 of "Crazy in Love" which was a better track. this song sounds like it jacks Teena Marie's 'Square Biz". bringing back Jay Z is a waste of time because his rap on here makes no sense whatsoever. her vocal runs are nice& the channeling of Tina Turner is cool in places, but more records like this show while Beyonce has a pressence along with charisma&is a Foxxy mama, but making another so-so track is not a good look at a career that could&Should be something special in time.

Reminds me of pure flavor and good medicine (3&1/2 stars),

Beyonce got it going on. Even though the song samples Teena Marie's "Square Biz", it shows her moving into a new evolution, a new era, some more charismatic-ish. Another point enuff fighting about Beyonce and what her relationship and collabo with no other than Mr. President himself, Jay-Z, Hova or Jigga (aka real name Shawn Carter or S. Carter), can't ya'll get a break or so? Don't get me wrong, I'm always trying to help. Love the arrangements, nice horns by the way, is more a'la Tina Turner meets Donna Summer. Beyonce can do it all. She's truly one of a kind. Don't have her latest Disc yet. But I approve 100% as a songwriter, producer, actress, enterpreneur, and mostly the fastest-working businesswoman.
Surely gettin into my Guts. |
