5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Cuban music for this century!!!!!!!!, March 24, 2004
By
This review is from: Dejame Entrar (Audio CD)
Buena Fe just brought us a new and fresh side of the Cuban music, to one so over saturated (of restless Salsa, Merengues and others, too competitive Latin rhythms) musical environment. Nice and well though lyrics like: Destino de la abeja or No juegues con mi soledad..., melodies with a different variety that goes from: Son, Ballad, to Pop-rock and more and finally two voices well mixed made out of these guys a really good choice, making a difference among the rest; The string instruments give a totally nice and smooth sound to the songs along with the voices and the musical arrangements. I had the chance to see a couple of clip out of this CD and the quality is good too.
DEJAME ENTRAR is a well done compilation of themes that allow us to see, there is still good music and will be, far away of nonsense lyrics and worst, we usually got in those rhythms.

Now I'm one of their followers and I do enjoy listening to them and play them to my friends. If you wanna try something cool, yet danceable and nice, go try this disc, you won't regret it. They got another CD: ARSENAL 2003, go for it!!!!, is the the same quality than the first one.

5.0 out of 5 stars UNIQUE, FRESH AND 100% CUBAN, October 22, 2003
By
This review is from: Dejame Entrar (Audio CD)
Buena Fe, founded in Guantanamo, in November, 1999, is one of the greatest cultural projects in Cuba, being awarded the Best Novel Band in CUBADISCO, the International Fair of Music held every May, in Havana, Cuba. They won that award thanks to the release of their first CD "Dejame Entrar" (Let me in), a mixture of many international rythmns, such as pop, guaracha, trova, rock 'n' roll, ballad, etc, which helped as instruments for the most distinguished characterist of the band: the lyrics. Greatly written, thoughtfully composed and interpreted, this CD is one of the best albums in the history of Cuban music. Israel Rojas Fiel(composer, singer and band leader) proves there is more beyond words and ideas: there is feeling. Joel Martinez Rodriguez (guitar player and singer) plays as old trova players used to, now adding the comtemporary styles, making incomparable the sound of Buena Fe. From "Dejame Entrar", the first track, to "Fuego y Balacera", the 12th and last song in the album, Buena Fe enchants, convinces and makes people believe in talent and sincerity. You will never regret buying this CD. I LISTEN TO IT EVERY DAY!!

Este disco es fenomenal y les recomiendo que escuchen el primero que se llama "Arsenal" y es buenisimo tambien.
Melodiosa influencia de la trova cubana en particular de Silvio y Pablo aunque los temas son menos politicos pero si mas sociales.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best cuban pop, March 6, 2003
By
This review is from: Dejame Entrar (Audio CD)
Buena Fe's "Déjame entrar" is the turningpoint CD in cuban modern music history. A couple of guys from Guantánamo, ususally considered as an orphan province (just hear "Guantanamero") come away with not just a hit, but a grand slam. The lyrics are intelligent and deep, as in "No juegues con mi soledad" (the cuban "Yesterday"), a combination lost since Silvio Rodríguez's early songs. Besides, they talk about real things, real people in songs like "La zanja" and "Fuego y balacera". Buena Fe shows Cuba and the world that Cuban music it's not only salsa, it can also be smart and profound. In cuban's words: Los tipos están vola'os!

5.0 out of 5 stars A breath of Fresh Air, September 26, 2003
This review is from: Dejame Entrar (Audio CD)
What can I say? This CD has totally fascinated me. We needed a breath of fresh air a long time ago in trova music, and this duet of cuban guys have produced a record that invites us to reflect and dream from beginning to end, with contagious rythms and a mix of flavors and themes that go from political to social and cultural. Believe me, this cd is worth every penny, so go for it! You will not be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD and great lyrics, September 20, 2005
This review is from: Dejame Entrar (Audio CD)
Finally, some music from Cuba that is not the "traditional" sound. This is a great CD as well as the Arsenal CD, I listen to it very often and don't get tired of it, I guess that happens when the lyric is good, well the music is not bad at all, it is very original, I could say this is an easy to listen CD it helps me get through the day and in many occasions gets me going in the morning. Another good point is that this young duo didn't have to kiss the government's butt in their lyrics in order to get their music out, different from Silvio Rodriguez and Pablo Milanes which have had to do for so many years in order to be heard in the country, which I consider pitiful and disgraceful. In summary I give two thumbs up for "Buena Fe".
