[NOTE: This review updated, and star rating increased, as of July 2014.]

I have had my Sansa e280R for over six years now [as of 2014]. I originally used it for long distance airline travel every few months with occasional usage in between trips. For the past year I have used my Sansa nearly every weekday during commute and work driving.

Back when I originally wrote this review, I had recently switched to using the free, open-source Rockbox firmware on my Sansa (a change I HIGHLY recommend). The Rockbox firmware got me using my e280 more often as it vastly improved the Sansa's features and functionality (including giving me lightning-fast start-up times AND allowing me to use a 16GB miniSD card rather than being stuck with the factory 2GB limit!) On account of this new lease on life for my e280, I decided to shop for a replacement battery - "just in case", and because I had the impression that I was getting a little less playing time (perhaps due to the new firmware).

After shopping around I chose the Dekcell replacement battery. It was very easy to install, particularly due to the included miniature screwdriver.

When I first charged-up the Dekcell battery and tested it for playing time, I ended up with about 20 hours of continuous play, a little better than I had been seeing from the original battery after a few years of use. [UPDATE: The Dekcell does not seem to have suffered a significant loss in capacity over the past three plus years that I have been using it, including over a year of weekday driving for my work.]

One last note - it is clearly stated in the item description that this is a 650mAh battery. What I did not know, until I disassembled my e280 to install the Dekcell battery, is that the original battery is rated at 750mAh.

I need this for my Sansa, to keep it chugging along. Works great, and you even get a little screwdriver too!

The screw driver that comes with the battery is very useful because I tried everyone I could find in my house and none of them worked. The screws in the back of the MP3 player are really small. The battery is a great product and is an inexpensive replacement.

I purchased this battery at the beginning of the year as a backup for my sansa player. I have had my player for four years now, recently I changed out the battery. Well for whatever reason the battery would not take a charge. I plugged it into my computer at first, the battery icon came on to indicate it was charging. After about two hours it appeared that the charging was done. Unplugged it from my computer, but the player would not turn on which I thought strange. So I plugged it into the wall outlet, again the battery icon came on to indicate charging. I decided to leave it overnight, the next day when I unplugged it, it still would not turn on. The player did not even feel warm to the touch, the other reviews seem to indicate the users had luck with theirs. The player would only work if I kept it plugged in,very disappointing.I was sent the correct battery for my player but why it won't charge, I don't understand. I noticed on the new battery it says 650 mah while the original says 750 mah. So I guess my original battery will be in use a while longer until it decides not to work anymore, and then I will get a new sansa player.
