I just ordered this last week and I love it, very snappy, plays DVD's burns CD's, you can boot an ISO from it in the BIOS no problem. Powered by the USB which is more awesome!

This drive saved me a request for servicing my Aspire One, I just plugged it in, inserted the disk, booted my copy of Windows XP, fixed the Master Boot Record and I was back to normal.

Great product, great seller.

Make sure you DON'T PAY $79.99 for this. The other sellers have it for just $29.99 and it's worth every penny, these sellers are just as good as buying from Amazon directly, shipping wasn't bad either.

First time I've used an external drive and I'm totally satisfied. Very useful. Very compact. Great companion to the acer mini-laptop

Having trouble reading dvd's with this product. No instructions, no troubleshooting guide. Keeps saying it can't read dvd, problem with country code. The dvd is US and the unit seems to be unable to recognize it. Not so happy with this product right now.

This optical drive initially worked perfectly, with or without the AC adapter. But one day it suddenly stopped working. When I put in a CD or DVD, I hear spinning and clicking sounds over and over, as if it's trying to read but it can't. It will not even read the driver disc that came with it. I'm glad I didn't pay much for this item.

This worked great for the last 5 months and then I went to use it and it decided it wasn't going to work. Tried again 30 minutes later and it worked again. This would be great if it worked all the time but apparently it doesn't.

I purchased this in 2009 for my Samsung Netbook thinking it was light and portable and rugged enough for my needs. I didn't realize until recently how much I had paid for it. I am actually a bit surprised. I must have gotten over it very quickly or never looked into getting it replaced or sending it back. I bought this for about $85 2 years ago. Unfortunately it did not last very long as you can see and failed to work after very little time (several months or a year maybe). Though it looks nicely made, actually appears to be very cheap and flimsy. You may have a different experience than I. The price has come down quiiite a bit, but still -- buyer beware. Better off getting something more expensive but better quality. Thanks

I may not be able to use all the correct terms when dealing with computers as a lot of folks are. Actually most of what they say doesn't make any sense to me. However I do know what works and doesn't and if something is fairly simple to use or not. I think there are a whole lot more of us out here than the other type anyway.

This gadget is great! It is compact and is made of a material that is nice to the touch and seems to be able to protect the CD DVD ROM if you happen to drop it. I haven't dropped it, so I am just assuming on that one. It installed easily and works beautifully. I couldn't be happier with this CD/RW-DVD ROM drive.

I guess it is like everything else dealing with computers. Sometimes certain things work better on some computers than on other computers. At least on my computer this works great!!!!

It did not read CDs and when I tried to play DVD's a message popped up saying that the DVD was "not intended for use in my region." It only played my Sims 2 game which is DVD-rom game. Also, it was kind of noisy. Needless to say, I returned the item.

works for installing Win 7 on a computer. Gotta love amazon. Walmart wanted $75 for a hp branded similar product. gotta love amazon.

I just needed something to connect to my 10 inch laptop and transfer CDs onto it. This works perfectly and is so small. Plug it in, pop the cd and done. Perfect item
