"Fact: Delaware is in the shape of a melting woman."
I happened to catch a performance of Delaware in Seattle. Going in I did not know what to expect. I was transfixed from the first note. It was a seamless, compelling dream - filled with eclectic music that touched the soul and the imagination. Funny. Heart-wrenching. Brilliant. The CD contains a marvelous memory of that evening. It is full of the life, that normally wanes on studio recordings. If you didn't have the chance to see this concert in person, you owe it to yourself to put in the CD, turn off "Shuffle", close your eyes, and experience the mesmerizing dream that is Delaware.

Fact: this is the goodness,

Fact: "Awesome" is not simply the band's name, but also an absolutely apt description of their lush and remarkable sound. The band consists of seven multi-instrumentalists/vocalists (including one actual doctor of philosophy) with a wide range of theatre and sketch comedy experience; their first album, Delaware, is the soundtrack to a beautiful piece of absurdist musical theatre they produced in Seattle for two blazing runs. Fusing the wistful sensibilities of Sufjan Stevens with the intelligent whimsy of Moxy Früvous, "Awesome" is a dynamic performance troupe that brings credibility back to the term "art rock".

Sounds Like Melancholy Magic - Hooray!,

"Awesome" is. And that's the reality of it all. Ask anyone who has seen them live. Ask anyone who has heard their cd. Seriously, you can even ask their exes. "Awesome" really is.
Delaware is hard to explain but even harder to forget. Equal parts love and anarchy, verve and fervor not to mention plenty of full-bodied oddness, Delaware is a musical experience you'll want to roll around in. "Awesome" can make music out of anything - water, a ham, ghost robots, you name it. And they have definitely made something special out of The First State. So go on - dream a little. It's "Awesome".
