Algarnas Tradgard - 'Delayed' (Silence),
By
This review is from: Delayed (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1973, this was the second of just two lp's, on CD reissue that were put out by this short-lived Swedish ensemble of psychedelic space rockers. If you're wondering about the name, I think it's supposed to mean 'Garden Of The Elks'. Algarnas Tradgard is a six piece that combines styles of psych, folk, rock and avant garde. Tracks I liked the best were "Take Off", the twelve-minute breath-taking "Interstellar Cruise" and "Beetlewater". Line-up: Andreas Brandt-violin,flute&vocals, Mikael Johanson-bass&tablas, Dennis Lindh-percussion, Dan Soderqvist-guitar, Sebastion Oberg-cello&sitar and Jan Ternald-mellotron, organ&piano. I understand that a few members of AT are still active today, in a band, Twice A Man. A fabulous trip this CD was to fully experience. Just might possibly appeal to fans of Gong, early King Crimson, Acid Mothers Temple,Hawkwind and Lard Free. A should-have.

Heavy Trip,

This review is from: Delayed (Audio CD)
I prefer Delayed to the more famous Älgarnas Trädgård first album, which I found a little too mellow and restrained. Delayed is way heavier and trippier and is comparable to Agitation Free's sound, but with mellotron. If you're into freaky underground psych or krautrock this is a no brainer. Don't take my word for it check out the sound samples.

good second effort,

this is garden of elks second release and was released 27 years later. this is far more rock-oriented than thier first cd. though it is heavier on the electric guitar, some of the later tracks still carry some traditional instruments such as the violin. personally, i like their first release better. to me it was more organic in it's sound. this still is a good release for all you prog collectors.
