5.0 out of 5 stars give it a chance
alot of kids who were really into not one word (including me) didn't really give this album the chance it deserves. it's a really really good album every song is good except for the piano track ghosts over japan. these guys are incredibly talented and this album deffinetly shows that off. the guitar work has improved immensly, the drumming is still amazingly good, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars give it a chance, December 27, 2006

alot of kids who were really into not one word (including me) didn't really give this album the chance it deserves. it's a really really good album every song is good except for the piano track ghosts over japan. these guys are incredibly talented and this album deffinetly shows that off. the guitar work has improved immensly, the drumming is still amazingly good, and the new singer is wwwwwaaaayyyy more diverse. his lows are way better and his singing voice is pretty good and his overall scream is good. if you're not into it at first just give it a good uninterupted listen and then judge it. if you're into ed gein, the red chord, ion dissonance, into the moat, the chariot then i recomend this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars t3h 0wn4g3!!1!!one!!1!, July 11, 2006

Okay, enough with my 1337 speak, now let's get to the CD. This CD is amazing technical deathcore music. It tends to steer away from the more generic side of modern metalcore and blends in elements of early metalcore (think Converge or 7 Angels 7 Plagues), along with technical death metal and grindcore as well.

This is a great debut full-length for an up-and-coming band. For fans of bands like The Red Chord, Between The Buried and Me, Through The Eyes of the Dead, Animosity, Psyopus, Premonitions of War, and many more. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acquired Taste, May 12, 2008
This review is from: Delenda (Audio CD)
I didn't like this album at first and I absolutely hated Not One Word. When I listened to the album the first time, it just gave me a headache and I dismissed it as just harsh noise. But I did feel like the album was better than I thought. Mostly because I really enjoyed the intro and the way it blended so well with the first track. So I thought there was more to this album than I thought.

After a couple more listens I really grew into the music. Especially after listening to A Piece of History a few times. This is an excellent album. It's very artistic and the lyrics are fantastic. In fact, I really enjoyed listening to the music while reading the lyrics.

Give it a couple of listens. If you can't stand it after that, I wouldn't bother trying to get into it. But if you do get into, you'll see how creative and damn good the album is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, September 14, 2006
This review is from: Delenda (Audio CD)
To start off I would like to explain what this album is about. There is a book in the Bible called Revelation that is about the end of the world. This album from beginning to end is pretty much that book of the Bible. It even has characters and is very story like. Some people think that having two interludes in one album with only 10 tracks is too much, but if you think about the placement of them and what is going on lyrically then you wouldn't want it any other way. It is hands down the most amazing album I have ever heard in my life. It has very good technicaly guitar parts that are very chaotic but seem to fit perfectly with the lyrics. That in combination with some of the best drumming on the planet makes this album instrumentally breathtaking. The vocals offer extremely good range from singing to screaming to low death metal growls. The album is very well thought out and fun to listen to. I have listened to it literally over hundred times in the last couple months and I have not yet gotten board with it and still find new interesting things that I didn't notice before almost every time I hear it. I recommend this album to everyone no matter what you listen to.

2.0 out of 5 stars Delenda, November 9, 2006
This review is from: Delenda (Audio CD)
This album is good, but did not give me that warm fuzzy feeling like the first one. I think the new singer does the job. He has a harsh scream that blends with the music, but the first albums vocalist screams gave me the goosebumps. I hear a lot of progression musically on this album, but I like their first release better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Def Worth Your Money, July 24, 2006
This review is from: Delenda (Audio CD)
Even thougth FASSW has changed their vocalist, they are still a great band. I actually give this CD a 4.5 b/c it isn't perfect. There is not as much growling or death elements as Not One Word... but its put in the right spots so its still good. My only big complaint is that there are 2 interludes on a 10 track CD. They aren't bad but everyone wants as much as they can get of the band. The songs all sound different and all have their own style. FASSW even has a few lines of singing muhc is something new in a few songs. One song is actully all singing, but its still a great asong (Ghosts Over Japan). They are still one of the greatest grind/metal bands in my book. No songs really stick out as my fav, they are all amazing. Fan of metal? go buy it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Please enter a title for your review, July 18, 2006
This review is from: Delenda (Audio CD)
They don't seem to have progressed much in the two years since their last cd. They still have no ability to write an actual song, or at least no interest in it. Maybe there's a bit more diversity in their dissonant guitar tricks, but the production is less heavy, and that doesn't seem like a worthwhile or even necessary tradeoff. The drumming and guitar parts don't compliment each other very well, and the timing changes are all so jarring that they might as well separate each song into 10 tracks on the cd and credit them all as individual 30 second songs. They've broadened their arsenal slightly since the last cd, but seem to be applying even less focus in their use of it. The drummer is especially guilty of this. He obviously has plenty of skill, if only he could balance his enthusiasm with some restraint and focus. He rarely holds down a beat at all, just does constant spazzy improv, it's as bad as Zach Hill from Hella. For this kind of stuff to work one musical part needs to be steady to provide some counterpoint to the more chaotic experimental part. 5/10.
