Delia Smith is Britain's bestselling cookery writer, whose books have sold over 21 million copies worldwide. Amazon[.com] shouldn't recommend readers to partner this book with the How to Cook published by DK as this is actually part of the latter which is a combination of Book One and Book Two.Having said that, both volumes are GREAT and really tells you How to Cook and more!!

I bought this cookbook along with Book Two and these were my first Delia cookbooks -- I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed with them. I know that Delia is an excellent cook but these books are difficult to follow (the measurements are completely different than American measurements and there's no conversion chart in the book -- what a nightmare!), take a long time to make and cook, have difficult to find ingredients and really exotic type recipes that are great if you have loads of time and don't have any children -- probably not most people. My mother is British and I grew up eating wonderful classic British foods that my Nana (the best cook on earth!!) used to make everyday. I expected these books to have some of those classic recipes but they did not. I'm a very good cook and I thought these books just didn't measure up. I'm going to try another one of her cookbooks that, hopefully will have some more traditional recipes with easier instructions and ingredients. My Take is: if you're a busy Mom with children -- even if they are ages 4-8...this book is not for you.
