Book Description

2011
Welcome to the "little edition" of the "big book"--the deliberate dumbing down of america: A Chronological Paper Trail. Since the original publication of the 743-page, 8-1/2"x11" tome, readers have requested a smaller, lighter version. This new version is in response to those many requests. The afterword, glossary, resources, appendices and index have all been removed from the 2011 version. Of utmost importance is the addition of "Update" which covers the final, but long-planned, institutionalization, since publication of the original book in 1999, of three activities, relatively new to the reader: (1) the use of unconstitutional tax-supported (public/private partnership) charter schools run by unelected boards. These schools use non-graded Skinnerian computer instruction to train for the planned economy (school to work); (2) global values-changing education, including International Baccalaureate programs and (3) restructuring of our nation's representative governmental structure, using regionalism (socialism) with its unelected councils (soviets), and communitarianism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Schools Dumbed Down Proof January 30, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a must have book for parents and anyone interested in understanding our educational system. As a parent of 6 grown children I have wondered through the years, WHY all the different approaches in education have not seemed to enrich the process of learning in material and attitude. Why is there a growing deficit in critical thinking and why is there such a great amount of Federal Regulations that tie the hands of teachers in our local schools. Parents are suppose to feel that their children are safe and are being taught reading and writing skills and math and sciences but yet that is NOT the case. I feel sorry for most of our teachers who really would like to do what is best for our children but there are so many restraints and regulations to follow that teaching is a challenge. Yet we keep pouring money ( our tax dollars ) into our schools and are happy to do so because we want the best education and safe environment for our children.
If I were now raising my children through their educational years, I would most certainly HOME SCHOOL. The Federal Department of Education is directing what and how our children are being taught with the intention of dumbing down our children and their futures and Charlotte Iserbyt's book has all the documentation to prove that is the case. In fact, the Department of Education was established to hijack the education of American children.

Charlotte Iserbyt's new abridged book is easier to handle and read but her older book is also good to have as a reference for more documentation of what has been going on in the educational system. Much of the documentation will leave you shocked.

5.0 out of 5 stars User Friendly Consummate History of Education in U.S. January 19, 2012
Format:Paperback
This revised and abridged version of the consummate book of how education became what it is today, retains the
most important documentation in the original: "Deliberate Dumbing Down of America", as well as an added chapter
covering the first decade of the 21st Century. It is "user friendly" size, with unique system of references to access the original book of 1999, on its own free website to pursue subjects further. If anyone wonders "what happened to our schools", this is the "one stop" source which tells it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America February 5, 2012
By Canada
Format:Paperback
The abridged, updated version of the original big "deliberate dumbing down of America" is really a treat to read. Not only does it provide almost all of the chronological entries contained in the original book, it has an extremely important Update which will help citizens understand the role of "school choice/charter schools and digital learning" in moving our nation towards a socialist planned economy. The author's making her original book a FREE download at her website [...] allows the reader to access portions of the original book removed from the revised edition. The size of the revised version is user friendly, able to be stuffed in a pocket book or brief case.

The deliberate dumbing down, so well documented by Charlotte, is taking place here in Canada, at a speed equal to that in the United States. The book takes you on a smoking trail of evidence, backed up by documents written by educational professionals, government leaders, private enterprise chieftains, etc.

This book should be in the hands of all citizens, here and abroad, who care about freedom , and who believe that man is created in the image of God, to be educated, not trained like an animal using Pavlovian computer software to accommodate the needs of the global economy.

This book will put a huge piece of the puzzle together on who, how, why, and when the destruction started on our minds. If you study history you will find a lot of the same key names/players in many facets of education, health, business, politics, media, and military. They are creating workers/slaves that are told what to do and think by eliminating free thinking through physiological control by means of stimulus/response methods. The book does a great job on explaining how the constant war on education is a farce and how your children are used as pawns to gain control over their minds and create a gattaca style work force system.

You can already see it... public schools are being ridiculed because of union teachers and low test scores and the answer is by replacing them with charter or workforce training schools (non-union and non-elected boards). When a teacher is forced to teach a specific lesson plan... it is already setup for failure knowing that each child learns differently and at a different pace. The system is setup that 70 percent will get through the material and the other 30% being of different levels, upbringing, and/or free thinking. The real sad part is children that do not conform to this method of learning are being out casted with behavioral issues. Parents have been conditioned to think something is wrong with their child because they don't learn like the other 70%. This is probably the saddest thing we could do to our youth. This will remove individuality and create an entry level workforce with low wages and long hours. The system is being built that if you conform and go through the ranks of the schools they deem worthy you will be rewarded with a middle management job.
