Hello!

I'm Monique Ortega, author of "52 Delicious & Healthy Superfood Breakfasts Under 300 Calories" and "32 Delicious Low-Fat Dessert Recipes Under 250 Calories".

I was born in Barcelona in 1977 and spent my childhood enjoying the beautiful weather, surrounded by my extended family - including my nan, who taught me most of what I know about cooking.

I moved to England in my early twenties and I must have lost a screw at some point because I am still here, moaning about the rain every day :-)

When I had my little pumpkin 3 years ago, I decided it was time to start eating healthier meals. Preparing exciting new recipes that are low in saturated fats and packed with superfoods and healthy ingredients is my passion.

I love cooking and really enjoy preparing delicious meals and desserts for my family and friends.

I buy and read a lot of cookbooks. Sometimes an amazing and completely unique cookbook comes along that really excites me. Delicious & Healthy Superfood Breakfasts is one of those cookbooks.

It is intelligently written. The recipes are completely unique and wonderful. And there is a Beautiful picture for each recipe that shows these wonderful creations beautifully plated. This book is the Real Deal.

Monique starts with a discussion of what it takes to change to a healthy diet, what a healthy diet really is and what SuperFoods are. The discussion of AS10 alone was an eye opener.

The recipes are divided into 3 groupings: Everyday breakfasts, Occasional sweet treats and Brunches and Sunday breakfast. I love smoothies and there are some amazing smoothie breakfasts in this book. The fact that they're 300 cals or less is a real bonus if you are trying to not only eat in a healthy way but also want to lose weight. Also Monique makes her smoothies thicker which I also like (You can always add more water to make thinner smoothies). But the other thing is that she often partners the smoothies with unique and wonderful toasts with spreads. So you get a healthy smoothie with a great crunchy crisp bread or toast.

There are other non-smoothie breakfasts. Just a few are crisp french toast with chocolate and cherries, chocolate and strawberry oatmeal, avocado and apple on toast with pine nuts, grilled mushrooms and scrambled eggs, cream cheese fritatta with herbs and many many more.

I can't praise this book enough. I usually like to include the recipes I like in my reviews. But for this book I'd have to include All of the recipes. So if you are looking for creative and tasty breakfast recipes that include superfoods which will provide a healthy and energy-filled start to your day BUY THIS BOOK!!! You will Not regret it.

I've read a lot of recipe book, especially ones on healthy eating and sometimes the recipes can be kind of common. Not in this book though - these are all very unique! I've never seen them elsewhere and they sound incredibly healthy and delicious. Not only are these under 300 calories but they also include a variety of super healthy foods like herbs and spices, quinoa, kefir and more. Don't let that put you off though, these aren't some strange recipes that you won't want to try, each one includes common foods that you already love! I'm trying the carrot cake oatmeal tomorrow - I usually eat oatmeal most mornings but I never thought to jazz it up as described in this book. Oh, and did I mention he pictures - mouth watering!

Unlike many of the recipe books for kindle, you can tell that the author went to a lot of trouble to develop these recipes specifically to be healthy and under 300 calories - each one has a picture so you know these came straight from her kitchen.

The amazing benefits of Superfoods in warding off and curing serious illness is well documented. Our family started to incorporate Superfoods into our diet and
it is been a challenge to find recipes that not only incorporate superfoods, but also easy to prepare and satisfy our taste buds.

If you are a looking for healthy recipes, and superfoods in particular, this book is as good as they come.

The recipes are divided into three groups:
- Everyday Breakfasts
- Occasional Sweet Treats
- Brunches & Sunday Breakfasts

Each recipe comes with a nice colorful picture, which gives a clear idea what the end result would look like.

The author has also marked her favorite recipes. So for those who don't know where to start, this should come in handy.

The author has put a lot of attention to detail to put together this excellent collection -- such as including the prep time,
detailed nutritional info, measurements in multiple units etc.

This book is formatted well for kindle with fully working TOC, making it a pleasant reading experience.

Most of the recipes used weird foods that I've never heard of, or are expensive, or I have to go out of my way to get and hope I like it. I was looking for some different options, but not *that* different.

Having bought the author's previous cookbook on Low Fat Desserts (I LOVED it!), I grabbed this one as soon as I saw it was available. As someone who does count calories while on my own journey to lose a lot of weight, this book is perfect. The author is very detailed and efficient with measurements and calorie counts. I love the pictures in the cookbook and you can tell that she actually cooked and photographed each of these recipes...I could really sense the amount of care that went into it.

There are many recipes that are quite simple to make yet I would never have thought of combining the specific ingredients. I can tell that each recipe would be very healthy and leave one feeling great about beginning the day. There is a section on the occasional sweet treats (yum!) as well as an expanded section on brunches and bigger meals for breakfast.

I also love that the book includes a very thorough introduction that covers a lot of valuable information about making changes to one's diet, a section on Superfoods and a good bit of detail about the recipes to follow. Definitely recommend this cookbook along with any others that she puts out...I really hope that there will be more!
