5.0 out of 5 stars So many delights!
Does ESL ever put out bad music? Mr. Williams' "delighs of the garden" is one of the best cd's of the year. his unique sound and beats make any night into a mello journey into the garden. great cd for background music. also great when having conversations or drinking a scotch on the rocks and wondering why everyone around you is so stressed out.

3.0 out of 5 stars 04/2003 - yawn
it's good, it's FINE. it's just like almost every other record on ESL label. i'll be honest, in my opinion down beat records are becoming a dime a dozen. i don't consider them all "good" just because they are easy to listen to. i find this record easy to listen to, but drab. i do like thievery corp & i adore blue states other than that i find the rest...

I can't believe I haven't heard more buzz about this disc. Especially due the fact that Williams is touring with Thievery Corporation and is published by eighteenth street. Each track is an ecclectic mix of sounds woven together with only the touch an experienced DJ can create. If you're a fan of Thievery Corp, K&D, or possibly lounge, you will find this fantastic debut a worthy addition to your music collection.

I don't think Desmond has the budget to shell-out more albums, but I wish he did!!!!! This album had everything I had hoped for and more.

Great grooves and seamless integration of Soul, Reggae and R&B...not too many artists can accomplish this fete! Buy it!!!!

This CD is magnificent...yea, I will be back with some chose words that will lusciously promote this true work of art. But as for now, the word for this album is `Magnificent'. Can you say that boys and girls... mag*nif*i*cent ...don't sleep I will be back in the Garden.

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent downtempo CD, August 23, 2003

This is a tight bit of Raggae and Dub-inspired groove from one of the erstwhile silent-men in league with DC's Thievery Corporation; while this CD is emenately listenable, it's only failing is that it suffers obviously when TC's influence is felt; "Theme from a Dream," the instrumental that first sparked my interest in Desmond William's, is a fine song in it's own right; in this context, given the pervasive Thievery Corporation "sheen," it sounds out of place: overproduced and needlessly verbose. Aside from that low spot, this is a fine CD to chill out to.

The first time I listened to this CD, I was instantly amazed by it. The songs are so intricate and each one is so unlike the next, making this CD into an incredible experience from start to finish. Desmond, origianally from Jamaica, does some amazing things with his music, making it into something very unique. I was really excited for this CD to come out, and when it did, I got it as fast as I could. You won't regret it, so buy it.

Is eveything thing that the esl label does guaranteed brilliant? Excellent debut from Mr. Williams. A must buy. Very smoothed, but not too mellow. Nice ragga surprises, which I am not a big fan of. This is definitely going to be in my summer cd playing rotation. Now if the TC boys would surprise their fans with a new cd or mixed compilation.

Another amazing product from ESL. This CD brings forth a range of emotions and is an all around treasure.A disk that can just stay a permanent fixture in your player. You can play this while lounging at the beach or dark dancing at a dimly lit groove. There is only one word to describe this treasure...Sensual.

Wow, where do I start? This is borderline of a masterpiece. Being part of the Eighteenth Street Lounge, one should expect greatness. But this is so good it's rediculous. From the start, 'Delights of the Garden' enters your mind, body, and soul. Every track has a different downtempo flavor, which only gets better each time played. My personal favorites goes in now particular order:

Theme from a dream
Cadence
High Speed Drift
Delights of the Garden
Um Favor

Turn it up and Enjoy!
