Book Description

Livi finds new purpose in her troubled life when she joins her family’s small-town florist shop. There, the strong and wacky Wilson’s Florist gang monitors the pulse of Mount Helicon, where customers carry stories even the local newspaper does not contain. Tales of birth and death, sickness and sorrow, love and betrayal, and even forgiveness—Livi hears them all. Privy to some of the community’s deepest secrets, she sometimes wishes she didn't know so much, especially when news arrives that a dear family friend is dead. Faced with servicing his funeral, she is blasted with painful memories she’s struggled for decades to ignore. Soon, guilt and grief over childhood and adult tragedies close in. Instead of turning to loved ones or God for comfort, she leans on alcohol, her long-time clandestine companion—but secrets rarely escape the close-knit flower shop crew, who makes Livi’s business its own. Fumbling through life’s challenges together, the Wilson gang often delivers more than flowers, yet when Livi needs delivery, can the bonds of faith and friendship dissolve her defenses?

5.0 out of 5 stars Review June 25, 2011

"Delivery" is absolutely phenomenal, honestly. Small town quaintness meets real world hardship. Although at first bit pessimistic about the feminine tone of the novel, I (a man) enjoyed the entire read thoroughly. I strongly encourage anyone to buy this novel and put it on your list of books to read. Tell everyone!

A very touching book & I do think everybody should read it. Just be sure to have the tissues handy.Diana has touched on several difficult subjects and did it with love, humor and compassion. I won't go into details of the book but it's a great story for anybody to read. We all can find something in it to touch us. The florist shop is a meeting place for the town to come with their joys & sorrows and find someone to listen. We all need that.I'm looking forward to Diana's next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow start, but an okay novel July 21, 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
I struggled to get into Diana Prusik's debut novel, Delivery. Livi, the main character struggles to vanquish her demons as she works at her family's small town florist shop. She and her sister, Gretta, don't always see eye to eye, especially after the latest tragedy that throws Livi for a loop. Her pain is nearly tangible. The characters in this story took me awhile to get into (especially with the confusing timeline of the story...so many flashbacks!), but once I got it all figured out, I mostly enjoyed the story. It was funny, heartbreaking, and entertaining, but it had its verrrry slow moments as well.

There were many loose ends at the novel's close, and I wished Prusik would have provided some sort of resolution for Livi's issues with her family. Instead of a clear resolution, I was left with questions about Livi and her husband and Livi's relationships with others.

All in all, I moderately enjoyed Prusik's debut novel. Thank you, Tyndale, for providing an electronic copy of this book for me to read in exchange for my honest opinion.
