Customer Reviews

This thing is very fast and works great with my Mac Mini.

Yes, I know, this is not too scientific, but I compared transfer speeds using a watch, and files transferred with this card in less than half the time.
Amazon Customer
I will give Delkin another chance if they produce a better product than this.

I needed this reader for SanDisk SDXC 64GB which i use in my Canon T2i camera.
Unfortunately, with USB cable from camera to my WinXP system i can't read videos over 500 MB, so i decided to buy this reader.
When i tried to use it on my WinXP it didn't work!!! But in some site i read about some SDXC readers worked on Win7, so my last chance was to try it on Win7 System.
So then i went to a Win7 laptop, connected it, Win7 recognized it, and then voilá! =D
I could access to my SDXC through Win7 =D

So i decided to figure out what happened in WinXP, if there's a SDXC driver or something for let it work in WinXP.
I searched and searched, and found a site which explain this problem [...], which talks about SDXC Memory Cards for PCs, and the exFAT file system used for SDXC

The site asked to download exFAT file system update (KB955704) available from the Microsoft Download Center
[...]

And then i tried on my WinXP, and it worked.

Hope this helps somebody there! ;)

Greetings from Mexico.

I have used a Delkin FireWire CF Card reader for about eight years now and it still works exactly as it did the first day I used it. Unfortunately it doesn't read the SDHC cards for my new digital camera so I had to purchase a new card reader. I went to Delkin's site and found this then searched for it on Amazon. This comes with a five-year warranty and it works great with my Intel Mac OS 10.6. Even though it's a USB device the data transfer rates are excellent. It also reads the old CF cards from my old digital camera. Both cameras are from Canon.

My recently acquired image processing work station that came with USB 3.0 ports. I thought this would be ideal to read my high-speed UDMA Compact Flash cards from my camera, but for months I was unable to find compatible devices on the market. I was skeptical when I finally found this card reader for such a low price (it cost me a fortune to hook-up firewire on my last box and then the performance was mediocre); however, the performance is amazing (I'm getting 64Mb/sec reading a Sandisk Extreme CF).
One thing to watch out for - unsurprisingly, the included USB cable is only 2 feet long (it would be difficult to get any more in that small packaging) which isn't suitable for all situations.

June 2012 UPDATE
I feel the need to make an update here as I just recently purchased a new UDMA 7 CF card (Lexar Pro 1000x) and THIS READER DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY WITH THIS CARD. I requested information from Delkin, but I got no response.

This is just what I hoped it would be. Completely plug and play. I have a Sandisk 32GB Extreme(60MB/s) CF copying to a SATA III drive. I got exactly what the card can deliver. Copying almost 30GB of picture files, it was 61MB/s read and 29MB/s write. Using a USB 2.0 port I still got 23MB/s read. That's it! USB 3.0 is here, and it's awesome.

I originally ordered this for my laptop since my desktop had a multi-card reader built-in. But when I found my Canon EOS 7D time out when transferring 32GB of data I decided to test it out and it's much faster than the camera or my built-in reader. Also it has a micro SD card slot so I can read the memory cards that are in the Zoom H1 audio recorder or my wife's camera without using the full size SD adapter. It's also smaller than it looks like in the product photo (since the predominate feature shown is the micro SD slot which is really small). It's roughly the size of a smart phone (same width as an iPhone, almost an inch shorter, and a smidgen thicker). So now I use it all the time on my desktop and unplug it when I need it for travel... Maybe I'll have to buy an extra one.

PROS:
+ Really Fast
+ Small
+ Lots of card types including sub types like micro SD

CONS:
- No Read/Write activity lights
- micro SD (or any other) port isn't spring loaded so pulling it out can be mildly difficult.

I bought this for a medical office to transfer data from SD-XC cards in Holter monitors.

The nurse was WOW-ed by the increase in transfer rates compared to the same cards in a USB 2 reader on the same system.

We only use the one slot but it has every slot I can think of. I haven't confirmed it reads the microSD in my phone yet.

There's a reason it's only gotten 5-star reviews so far. Those of us who've bought them love them.

This card reader really is MUCH faster than my USB 2.0......

BUT, I find that half of the time it doesn't recognize that there is a card in the reader. I reinsert the card and NOTHING. I try my older read and it works every time. Something is wrong with this reader.

The speed of this card reader is also dependent upon the speed of the card. Older cards will not see a big jump in download speed.

I have recently switched some of my DSLR modes, among the changes I now shoot RAW for all of my images. I have the time to devote to post processing which gives me a lot of practice using Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom software. The old card reader did a decent job of transferring images via USB cable but RAW files were very slow and time consuming. After checking a few photograph blogs and Amazon reviews I settled on the Delkin All-In-One. The difference, in my opinion, is like going from a purple ditto machine copy to a Xerox machine. While the blue ditto copy was useful (not to mention a great smell for a fifth grader) the Xerox copy saved enormous amounts of time (not to mention dirty purple splotches on a teacher's hand and maybe clothes) Before this review I downloaded 118 RAW shots (2.32 GB of data) from a 16GB Transcend CompactFlash (UDMA) in 72 seconds. The older card would have taken 15-20 minutes. Needless to say, this is one quick unit with a very attractive price to boot. A must for anybody wanting to transfer their photo files quickly and efficiently.
