Product Description

High Performance Photography... Delkin's CompactFlash Pro UDMA enabled cards deliver industry-leading read/writespeeds with a minimum sustained transfer speed of 305x (45MB/sec). The enhanced camera-to-card and card-to-computer transfer times considerably improve workflow for any pro photographer in the field. Delkin's CompactFlash Pro UDMA cards when used with the Delkin's line of Pro readers and adapters, dramatically reduces the time needed to download digital image files to a computer. The difference may be crucial for those working in the field with battery operated laptops, and particularly important for pros working in news media, wedding or event photography. Certainly any photographer working with larger RAW files will experience a great benefit in faster transferspeeds in the camera and computer. What is UDMA (Ultra Direct Memory Access)? The advantages of UDMA over previous transfer modes are the use of double edge clocking, that is transferring data on both the rising and falling edge of the clock thereby doubling the data transfer rate per clock and increased reliability by the use of cyclical redundancy checking (CRC) for data transferred over the bus. Basically, this new technology facilitates data transfer; dramatically increasing transfer speeds, allowing for a more streamlined workflow process. It's important to note that UDMA technology is ONLY utilized when used in combination

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior cards, October 28, 2008

This review is from: Delkin CompactFlash PRO UDMA 305X - 2 GB (DDCFPRO2-2GB) (Personal Computers)
I own quite a few Delkin cards, but not these new silver ones, but the former series (the gold&black "pro" CF cards). Out of all my friends who are also wedding/event/portrait/commercial photographers, those who also use the Delkin cards can also make this unheard of boast:

Wait for it....

I have NEVER had a single read/write problem or failure with the Delkin cards. Ever. (but always knock on wood, when you say something like this.....who wants to tempt fate?)

Yet each and every photographer I know who uses the other two largest-selling card brands, have all indeed had problems. They are rare, of course. But it still happens. Often times, these problems I mention were solved by running a data recovery program on the card, and most or all of the information was saved. But still....who wants to take a chance at an event or job?

So because of this, I have never even tried another brand. I mean really...out of a half dozen photographers who shoot several events every single week, and probably put hundreds of thousands of images on their cards per year....and not a single failure??

Unless something horrible happens to the quality control at Delkin, or another brand can make such boasts, I will never use another brand of card for a paid assignment.

3.0 out of 5 stars if 4GB flavors performance is and example..., February 9, 2010
This review is from: Delkin CompactFlash PRO UDMA 305X - 2 GB (DDCFPRO2-2GB) (Personal Computers)
I purchased one of these 'udma' cards in the 4GB flavor for my 5d mkII. Days later, I purchased a 4GB sandisk extreme III (not labled as UDMA). On a whim I got the notion to test the difference between the two. Now I know the 5d isn't known for blazing speed, that's not why I bought the camera. I was merely testing the write speed difference between the two. I put the DD udma card in first, fired shots in manual mode with the burst setting on. I was able to get 15 shots before I was over the buffer limit, thats 2 over the amount displayed in the viewfinder. After those 15 shots as I expected the repeat shots were slower. Now that I had tested the faster card, it was time to test the slower one. I loaded up the sandisk extreme III and initialy got the same performance, 15 shots before the slowdown. Now this is where the surprise comes in, I was able to get about a 30% faster refire rate with the extreme III than the delkin "udma" thing...

That's just my experience with one card, I can't say anything about any of the cards losing data as i've not had the problem without me doing something stupid like opening the card door too early or something of that nature. But if this performance is exemplary of their cards i don't have to have them. I don't use burst mode often with this camera BUT I'd like it to be as fast as possible when i do want to use it.
