I haven't actually taken the camera out since I installed the hood, but it installed easily, unfolds and folds without any difficulty and only adds about a third of an inch to the camera thickness when folded, so it still fits in the case I bought for it originally. I fully expect the hood to make seeing the LCD easier in sunlight. It's flat black inside the hood although it's not obvious from the picture and I don't think it's mentioned in the product description. I don't know how strong the peel-off adhesive is, so removing the hood without wrecking it may be problematic.
