Product Description

The Studio XPS 13 is one of the first Dell portable systems to be released in the Studio XPS line of products. The target market for Studio XPS systems includes students, young adults, professionals, soccer moms, trend setters, or anyone who appreciates good multimedia features in a mobile platform. Being able to choose from a series of color options and a wide range of hardware offerings helps personalize each system to the buyer. The Studio XPS series is expected to be the best selling line of notebooks for the Consumer segment. The system includes a dual core processor, 4GB of memory, 320GB hard drive, 2.0MP webcam, 512MB of dedicated video memory, and a 6-cell battery.

I had a problem with the screen locking up but updated the BIOS driver through Dell Support Center and have not had one problem, it even runs cooler. I love it and the backlit keyboard is great for low light situations especially if you need to see the keys to type like me. It's fast and the perfect size. I believe if it wasn't for the BIOS snag which can be easily remedied (5 minutes) there would be no complaints against this computer. The fix came out in September of 09 so any computer manufactured after that date should be the best laptop you'll ever own.

The laptop worked fairly quickly out of the box. It is a fairly powerful laptop. We were happy with it until we'd had it for a few weeks, then the laptop wireless started dropping after using it for a short period of time. Once the wireless dropped, it would not reconnect. This happened on many different wireless networks. We contacted Dell support and after upgrading drivers (for a new laptop) and reinstalling the OS, they are supposed to send someone to replace the wireless card. We are going on a week without a working laptop.

I also tried to return the laptop to Dell, but because we had it over 21 days, we could not return it.

I would not recommend this laptop or Dell unless you are fairly sure you won't need quick resolution to problems.

this laptop looks great and has a lot of cool features. However, it is not very reliable. Google xps 1340 motherboard before you buy it, I wish i did
