The impressive 48-bit full color flatbed scanner and 50-sheet auto document feeder work together to scan media at up to 1200x4800 optical dpi (19,200 interpolated), with the ability to scan directly into e-mails or other applications. Built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software can save your time and increase your productivity by transforming scanned text into digital text that you can edit. I have had a 968 wireless and a plain 968. They are fair machines as stand-alone multi-function units except they are noisy.

The set-up and compatability with MS Windows Vista is a nightmare. Just type "Vista and Dell 968" into Google and see for yourself how problematic they are together. It might be the Dell drivers, software, or the bugs in Vista. It doesn't matter except they don't work together. I have lost countless hours as a result over a period of two years.

I have a Dell replacement warranty for three years on my newest 968 which is also useless as the techs cannot fix the problems and always end up telling me to reload Vista which does not fix the many outstanding compatability/connectivity issues.

It does work flawlessly with XP in my experience on two other computers.
