4.0 out of 5 stars Nice system but don't buy it for the wireless connection
I received this system in the mail today. The PC is as advertised, fast and quiet. The tower is nicely sized, much smaller than others I've had in the past. One of the +'s for me in buying this system was the built in wireless access. When I received it and started up I was very surprised to see that I was getting 1 to 3 bars of connectivity even though a laptop...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that impressed
Replaced a full size tower Dell Inspiron 560. I wanted flight sim x to run better with more periphials. I should have bought a bigger video card. It freezes, crashes more than my other one. I constantly have to download Saitek drivers to run my FIPs, BIP,s and X52. $1200.00, not happy, looks good :(

I received this system in the mail today. The PC is as advertised, fast and quiet. The tower is nicely sized, much smaller than others I've had in the past. One of the +'s for me in buying this system was the built in wireless access. When I received it and started up I was very surprised to see that I was getting 1 to 3 bars of connectivity even though a laptop sitting right beside it has 5. After doing some legwork in the forums, I find that this problem is consistent on this machine. The only solution offered in the forums is to buy a wifi stick. I had an extra from my old system and plugged it in and sure enough, 5 bars of connectivity.

Until Dell gets their act together and provides a valid wifi connection in this system, buyer beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, April 17, 2012

So I bought this PC for my wife's dorm room while she's in Tech training. Naturally, I'm testing it out before I hand it over to her. All I can say is "wow". I couldn't believe how small this thing is. Seriously, it's almost identical in size to an X-Box 360. I have it hooked up to a 23in HP full HD monitor. Gaming on it is AWESOME. Handles SWTOR with ease. BF3 and MW3 are amazing on this machine. And the Bluray player will be great for the wife since she doesn't really have room for a full on TV and Bluray player and all the extras needed with that. I will say that it will need a graphics card upgrade in the near future, but the system is completely customizable, so replacing the graphics card won't be a problem. All in all, it's a great little PC. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a gaming PC that also wants to save space. Oh, and the color customization option for the PC lights is just fun. You can make it 3 different colors at once!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome machine, a few gripes, April 24, 2012
This review is from: Alienware AX51-0066BK Desktop (Personal Computers)
This thing is awesome, works great, and plays games beautifully, but only buy it if:
1) You want to get into PC gaming (obvious one)
2) You want something small and high tech
3) You don't want to build your own
4) You always wanted an alienware (there are other brands)

My few gripes:
1) Would have liked more usb ports in the front, maybe even a USB 3.0.
2) Would have liked a spot to put a SSD (this thing is small so asking for a second hard drive spot is a little too much but still :)!)
3) A bigger power supply would have been nice, I got the 330W but its still not enough to run higher end cards. This may change since NVIDIA is making their cards lower power.
4) It needs a better wireless card, but its not bad. (it gets about the same signal as my phone)

If you meet all of the above requirements, and don't mind those gripes that I pointed out you should get this, or wait for an ivy bridge refresh.

It the perfect computer for some people, it's not a laptop which means it's probably capable of being upgraded (videocard, memory and processor). It's quiet, it's very good for gaming or video editing, it looks like a Xbox only you can do much more with it.

There is nothing I don't like about this computer, the price is good and I have owned over five computers now (2 laptops 3 desktops one of which I build myself) so I know what I'm talking about.

If you want to buy a good gaming computer which is not a laptop but also not as big as a tower, I highly recommend the Alienware X51.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, May 7, 2012

For a gamer, it is one of the best computers in the market now. You can play any of the last generations games easily. The resolution is perfect. The HDMI port make it compatible with my 42" LG TV so I didnt even have to buy the screen. The 2 USB ports of second generation make the info transmittance incredible fast, I copied 20 gb in 5 minutes! Looks really cool with the flexible Alien in the front, almost like a PS3. Its really light, you can take it anywhere to play with friends.
