Printer works great and print quality is very good.

Also, because this is a fairly new printer there are no aftermarket supply of toner cartridges but I'm sure this will change in the near future.

Printer jams if try to print on other paper, such as card stock, gloss, or heat transfer paper.

I bought this printer to avoid having to pay for copies to be made for an election season. Unfortunately the starter cartridge that came with the printer (black ink) shut down after only roughly 250 copies. After checking OfficeMax, Staples, WalMart, Meijer and Catridge World it appears that NO ONE carries these toner cartridges. It prints documents very nicely, but make sure that you order replacement cartridges at the time of purchase or you will be stuck waiting for another online shipment.

Also, apparently Dell cartridges contain a chip that must be replaced when you add ink (so it's not as easy for places like Cartridge World to do a refill). That chip tells the printer how many more copies can be made - regardless of how much ink is really still left....

After struggling for 4 hours, and failing to set up this printer, I finally reached out to Dell Technical Support over the phone and spent another 1 hour, they didn't help I ended solving the problem myself.

I am writing this to maybe help someone get this printer setup without wasting an entire day.

I installed the printer on a:

1. Windows Vista 32 bit
2. Windows 8 64 bit
3. Mac OS 10.8.5

1. First Using WPS on the printer and router does not work.
2. The software that comes with the printer does not work Period on any of my computers. Trash it and download the Drivers from dells website.
3. Make sure you are using a REAL ROUTER not an AP unit.
4. Make sure you are using WPA Personal TKIP (only)

Using the automatic setup on the Dell printer, though, didn't work whether using the printer control panel or a PC connected to printer via USB cable. Printer would find my network but would never accept the password.

The Solution was to use manual setup, type in network name, and specify "WPA-TKIP". After that just go to your computers and click add a printer and it will find it automatically. Boom your done

One more tip: The C1660w has a nice quality, fast printing for a cheap price, just a nightmare network setup.

The first printer was bought around Christmas time (2012) from an Amazon dealer,it had a bad USB port and was returned for a full refund. The second printer I bought directly from Dell at about the same price. It was installed with no problems whatsoever, however, I only use the USB port.
The only minor problem I have is that it does not print on paper stock weight over 45 pounds, I am not sure this is the exact figure, but it will not print on paper I use for my business cards.
Also, because this is a fairly new printer there are no aftermarket supply of toner cartridges but I'm sure this will change in the near future.
I am very pleased with both black and white and color prints.
This is a great printer at a fantastic price.

July 16, 2013, update:
I see that there are some aftermarket toner cartridges with the chips becoming available. That is great news. I'm still very happy with the printer.

I was looking for a color laser as I wanted color output but wasn't interested in an inkjet. I was tired of clogged printheads when using cheap ink or megabuck genuine cartridges for that matter. Never was happy with color output looking terrible on regular (cheap) paper, not to mention soggy sheets coming out that smeared in an instant.

Photo output of this machine is just great - I can print on regular copy paper and it looks really good, comparable or better than cheap inkjets especially if you prefer the matte finish look. If you're used to a color laser looking lousy on photos then you'll be in for a big surprise as Dell has done something to improve upon this.

Consumables appear high but a famous auction site sells refill toner bottles with reset chips. I haven't tried them myself (yet) but if they work fine then the consumable cost of this unit will be very low. No fear of clogged printheads either.

Wireless connection works reliably, unlike some HP models I've used before with dubious results. Noise wise, this is a very quiet unit with the cooling fan only going on when it's printing and a little bit thereafter and it's far quieter than, say, a laptop's fan. There is some aggressive power saving features in this unit which is wonderful and like I said, it doesn't affect the wireless operation since that portion is always functioning without fail.

Only thing to look out for on this printer is the price - they've been advertised for sale at much lower cost - an even one hundred - elsewhere so look around before buying.

update: unit is working just fine after about a half year later. I don't print much, so am glad I never have to worry about dried up printheads as I would on an inkjet.

I'm a tech expert (career software QA), but after spending hours trying to set up the wireless for this, I had to finally give up and use USB. Then my 6th paper through the machine jammed, and it could not be repaired without dissembling the machine. Although I got the printer at a great price, I now have to send it back, and I'll never get my lost hours back.
