I restarted it, same behavior.

You would also think that you would be able to change the settings of the printer remotely using either the Dell software or the web interface.
Mason
Manual is not very helpful and customer service/tech support is the worst.

We have three networks linked together in our home to serve six people using ipads & a variety of computers... this printer was easily installed and readily available to all devices on all the networks. Dell's mobile app makes quick work of printing from our iphones. Black & gray-scale printing is crisp. Color is correct and beautiful. I cannot tell enough people how pleased we are with this printer. The only advice to be offered is to ditch the installation cd that comes in the box. It has a load of business software that is cumbersome and useless in a home environment. Download the installation file from the Dell website using the service tag. The scanner works great using Paint and the OCR is spot on using Microsoft Document Imaging. The toner seems to last forever. We're on our fifth ream of paper and still going strong - a vast improvement over buying inkjet cartridges twice a month. Excellent printer!

One day old Dell laser. Spent a couple of hours on the phone with Dell support. I'll pass along info for other users.

1. Windows XP HP laptop. Dell printer drivers and software for a WiFi setup installed 1st time from the CD. It did pause while doing the install. Re-inserted the CD and it picked-up where it left off and completed the install.

2. Windows 7 Accer laptop. Install CD found the wireless printer and completed the printer install. When it came to installing the software it hanged on "computing available space", when you attempted to re-install it a new error appeared "Windows 1605 error". That's when I contacted Dell support. I did some Internet searches and found the fixes for both (after the session with Dell). The 1605 error is cleared with a regedit and then the computing available space is by-passed by doing a clean boot (Microsoft explains how-to) and installing the software in clean boot.

The 2 Windows 7 errors seem to be common to software installs and not just peculiar to the Dell printer software.

Here are a few tips from the Dell user support session:
- session with them was very helpful. Confirmed I wasn't doing something wrong with the software install. Their support is the best.
- you want to assign a fixed IP address to the wireless printer.
- downloading software from the Dell website only provides drivers, no printer software.
- connecting to the IP address of the printer by browser lets you scroll thru the menus and change printer settings.

Bought this multifunction laser printer a few weeks ago. Granted I haven't had to print much in that time, it does seem to work and do what I need of it. The setup for this thing is extremely easy and basically dummy-proof. I will say that the graphics and colors are pretty darn good. I printed a full 8 1/2 X 11 picture of my wife and I and it looked great! I also copied a new dollar bill I had in my wallet just to test the scanning and printing abilities (dollars are so extremely intricate). It turned out looking like the real thing, it was crazy. It went straight to the shredder of course!

I had my Dell C1765nfw for 15 months and for the most part it was a good printer. Today I updated the firmware and it fried my motherboard. I called technical support to explain that it was the Firmware that caused my printer to stop working, but they would not do anything because it was out of warranty. Supposedly they will escalate this to their engineers, but they said that it is unlikely that anyone will follow-up with me. They need to fix the issue with the firmware and they need to put warnings stating that by updating your firmware, your printer might not ever work again. They also need to stand behind their product! Also, I'm not the only reported person with this issue. Check out error code 016-315.

Product has very good print quality. The feeder is much better than on other devices I have used in the past. The speed is a little slower, but that is not a problem for a relatively low volume printer. Overall, very good Dell product.

Color images and web pages print well. Scans, faxes, copies well. Good for light duty printing. Amazon requires more words.

I enjoy this printer,it is almost exactly do what I was expecting from a printer;the colors are very good and the printing is very clean and clear. What I am a little disapointed is that the two sides of a sheet is not automatic,But the 2 sides are printed very well and the pièces of paper are exactly on the good sheet.

I bought this printer almost a year ago to use in my home office. In short, it's the worst printer I've ever owned. I knew going in it wasn't the faster or best, but I expected it to work. The Dell connection software is pitiful. It's confusing, non-intuitive and doesn't work a good bit of the time. I think the biggest disappointment is the wireless functionality. First off, the WPS function didn't work at all. It was difficult to get it to connect the wireless network at all. Before anyone accuses me of just being a technical idiot, I'm a professional wireless engineer. I have an entire host of troubleshooting hardware and software at my disposal and years of experience with wireless. If I couldn't get it to work reliably, God help anyone else. To be clear, I tried it with a half dozen different routers, so it's the printer that's at fault. While on that topic, what type of wireless printer goes to sleep and turns off the wireless? The max you can set it to is 6 minutes before it sleeps. That means if you want to print, you have to physically walk to the printer, press a button to wake it up, then print. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a wireless printer. Don't plan on using the Dell Mobile app to print from your phone because the wireless won't work reliably. I've even tried thrid party apps to print from Android and they all can't find the printer. If you connect manually it works SOME of the time.

I finally gave up on the wireless, ran a USB cable and use it wired instead. That works better, but not much. The scanning software has been sporadic. You have to navigate through a maze of menus, then it allegedly prints to file. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
