5.0 out of 5 stars dell 530 vista
I've had my dell 530 for three years. I have to say that I love it. The system restore and pc factory restore is great to have. This is my first and only pc. I haven't had to repair or replace any parts.I do take it apart every year to clean the inside. It is a vista, which I don't mind since I never used an xp. I don't think all my hardware will support window7, but I'm...

I purchased this computer because it was inexpensive for the components provided. I run a small business, and we were overdue for an upgraded system. Our old Compaq had served us for about 5 years, but was getting too bogged down.

This computer was promised with a Win7 upgrade, free of charge. When I received it, I immediately installed it, and it rendered my wireless network useless. After spending an hour trying to fix it, I had to call Dell for assistance. It was Sunday afternoon, and if our wireless did not work Monday, we would have to close up.

I found out something very important - DELL DOES NOT OFFER ANY SUPPORT OF WINDOWS other than paid support. It cost me $135 for someone to reset my wireless connection. I was told that most users will never have a problem with Windows, so they do not provide support. Microsoft told me that Dell is responsible for the Windows support for this product, but if they don't offer it, I could also pay Microsoft for assistance.

Now, a few months later, I'm having hardware failures. After 6 calls today - all of which were disconnected during transfers to tech support - I'm now stuck with an online chat, attempting to solve my problem. Very slow, tedious, and inconvenient, but you get what you pay for!

I did buy this at walmart with a large screen, keybroad, mouse and speakers, which all still work. LOVE MY DELL

4.0 out of 5 stars Had it for over 2 yrs with no problems., November 12, 2011
This review is from: Dell Desktop Inspiron 530 Desktop (Personal Computers)
I bought this computer at Walmart around May 2009 that came with a monitor, key board, mouse, etc. I had not had a Dell before. It hasnt given me any problems. I work at home on it 10 hours and used to take classes online and have had it on for at least 20 hours in a day. No problems at all. I have replaced the monitor, (still worked), I just wanted to go a little bit bigger and the mouse because kids kept dropping it. The only thing I dont like is that it doesnt come with sd memory card reader but it does come with a lot of usb outlets.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, May 26, 2011
This review is from: Dell Desktop Inspiron 530 Desktop (Personal Computers)
It lasts for two years but the motherboard is slow and breaks easily. You cant even replace the motherboard due to the design of the computer case. to make it work again you would need to buy the motherboard from them which is about 150 bucks.Or just buy another computer case and a motherboard which is at least $80 at the cheapest. unless you can work metal( i did using a jigsaw and a grinder and is easy to modify this way)and modify it so you can put another motherboard in the case or fix the motherboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Computer at a Reasonable Price, September 8, 2010
This review is from: Dell Desktop Inspiron 530 Desktop (Personal Computers)
I bought this computer about a year and half ago because it was very reasonably priced for all it had to offer. Between my finance using it for online classes to get his MBA and me using it for work, this computer is constantly being used and needed on a daily basis. We are completely dependent on it and have not been let down. This has been a great computer and we have yet to have run into any issues with its functionality.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage!, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Dell Desktop Inspiron 530 Desktop (Personal Computers)
This was my first and absolutely last Dell I will ever purchase. It's been a nightmare from
day 1.

The first machine they sent wasn't even installed properly--they didn't even screw in the disc drive, it was simply loose. Then it crashed constantly and you have to deal with their abysmal Banglore tech-support (broken English and crackling connection everytime-ugh!). They finally sent me a new machine which lasted about 6 months before the motherboard died. Now the latest machine got the black screen of death, so they are going to send me a new "refurbished" machine--oh joy! The only smart move I made was buying their extended warranty so everything is covered, but it's still a nightmare to deal with and has taken countless hours to resolve.

Even when the machine works it's performance is sub-par--even upgrading the RAM to 4G gave negligible results.

Just go online and you can read thousands of nightmare Dell stories--why anyone would buy one is beyond comprehension. Save yourself money and headaches and buy anything but a Dell.
