Excellent monitor for price,
By It fits the bill perfectly for ~$320. PROS: Fast response, no ghosting. Decently clear, nice n bright USB Hub built-in HDMI Input Overall good looking monitor with small footprint CONS: TN Monitor - colors arent the greatest. Need to look at it DEAD ON, or colors shift. Narrow viewing angle from all directions. Colors screwed up in factory setting. turn down colors to ~70 (RGB) No UP-DOWN or Tilt feature - cant expect it from an entry level monitor I guess Again, for ~325, it gets the job done so thats why I gave it a 4 star. The viewing angle is a bit too narrow even for entry level which is why it doesnt get a 5 star rating. Happy computing!

Ok Monitor but...,

This review is from: Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor 22", 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 800:1 Contrast Ratio (Electronics)
I agree with most of what other people have said about this monitor, that its a good, but not great monitor, that sells for a decent price. When mine was working I was pleased with it. However I recently had some problems with mine and found that Dell did not assign a "service tag" to this piece of hardware. This makes it pretty much impossible to receive any sort of online tech support. So unless you like being on the phone with someone from India the 3 year warranty has some severe limitations. I was seriously blown away that they would pull something like this, but there are other companies out there to buy from.

The screen is really sharp. And the color is very rich. The overall quality is much better than the monitors I seen being sold at office depot or electronics stores. I would definetely recommend it.

I guess this is an ok monitor if color accuracy of any kind is not required. When I say color accuracy I don't mean matching pantone or having a calibrated display, i mean this monitor is not capable of displaying a gray background on scroll or tool bars. It renders gray as olive / reddish green out of the box / default and after two hour of trying to get a consistent gray (monitor setting and fidgeting around with the graphics card drivers) i gave up...

Amazing stand,

Bought this monitor 2 years ago from Dell's website.
Pros: - After realizing in 2008 that I could get any other 22" monitor from Newegg or Fry's for $180, I wondered why this Dell model was MSRP'd at $230 and on sale for $200. This monitor has an AMAZING STAND. This is often neglected as people look for "how many inches, how many pixels, how many lumens, what's the contrast ratio, does it have HDMI, how many watts...". The base is very sturdy. My roommate is one of those "I got a good deal on Newegg" guys, and his monitor stand is tiny, and he has to be careful not to bump his monitor or it falls over. you get what you pay for. The fact that this monitor hasn't dropped in price in 2 years says something: it's a great monitor and it's in high demand. It can swivel on its base, which means you don't have to clean off your desk to swivel your screen. It can tilt back and forward. You can raise the monitor by up to 8 inches. The monitor can be quickly rotated to provide portrait viewing, helpful for reading digital books or viewing web pages. This stand is incredible. - DVI output. Buy a HDMI-DVI cable off Amazon for $6 and you will forget that this monitor doesn't have HDMI. - Good picture quality for a non-videophile. Cons: - The default color setting has overly-bright reds. The monitor settings can easily be changed, but I've read that sometimes monitor manufacturers will intentionally make colors too bright or dark if one of the colors is prone to premature dimming/dying. So far I haven't had any problems. - This monitor was made back in the 16:10 days before manufacturers realized that TV shows and YouTube videos are filmed in 16:9. But it also means that a full-screen video does not compete with the taskbar.

Purchased with a Dell computer. Monitor started going dark just after the 1 year warranty. Get about 1 hr of use, then have to let it cool down.
This is a know issue with this monitor, just do a search for this monitor and backlight and you'll see all the problems. Even on the Dell website (Dell E228WFP Backlight failure): [...] Dell replaced the monitor as it is under a three year warranty even though the system only has a 1 year. (changed 1 star to 4 stars for this reason, would have been 5 stars if it didn't have this problem)

Not a bad monitor...,
This review is from: Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor 22", 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 800:1 Contrast Ratio (Electronics)
I've had no problem with this monitor. No dead cells, no ghosting. I use it for my computer and my Playstation 3 and it has worked great for the money I paid. Of course it doesn't have the picture quality of a 500 dollar monitor but it's definitely worth it for the price. The only bad thing I can think of so far is maybe the viewing angle of the screen could be a little better and the backlighting in a dark room on a black screen shows a little.

Excellent 22" Monitor, Good value!,

This review is from: Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor 22", 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 800:1 Contrast Ratio (Electronics)
My company has been using 19" LCD screens from Dell, and the 22" monitor has been a great upgrade for an affordable price.
The native resolution is 1680x1050 which is about 35% more working space compared to 19" screens. This dramatically increases productivity since my employees can now practically work with 2 applications side by side. The brightness and contrast is good, and using the DVI connection helps clarity of the texts and images. I also have the compatible speaker (AS501PA) attached to the monitors which is a great addition to the screen.

It works like new, only problem was there was splatter marks of something alll over the screen which took awhile to get off. Other than that, it works and looks great.

I've just received my monitor, last week. I love it! I had been using a 19in. monitor, this one is just so much bigger and the color is great. Set up was easy. I use it for games, music and basic internet. And I couldn't ask for a better monitor.
