Go to any major consumer review website and you will see that Dell is slipping up majorly. I purchased my original computer with Dell over 4 years ago. When I made that original purchase the company was just starting to get big. Customer service was great because you could speak with someone that lived in the USA. I had no complaints. That was then though. I recently ordered a new XPS desktop. I received it in a timely fashion, however both the casing to the desktop and the monitor were defective out of the box. I won't bore you with all the details, but I did end up returning the entire thing. I have not purchased another desktop from them since. Bad customer service is one major strike and now the quality of the product is lacking. Shame on you Dell!
I have purchased multiple systems from Dell in the past, but the company is now almost completely useless for parts and support.
They appear to be oursourcing phone sales and tech support to India which not only presents a communications problem, but the representatives in India don't even know what the components in the systems are.
While trying to buy a Bluetooth module for a Dell laptop, the sales reps in India kept trying to sell me a 802.11 networking card and argued with me that it was what I really wanted even though I already had this card installed (lost in translation - after saying "wireless" I guess it only meant one thing to them). I went back and forth for 10 minutes even telling them where I was looking at the part on the Dell web site. I then gave up.
This was despite the fact that I had provided them with the Dell part number and SKU of the part I really needed. Very frustrating.
