Dell Inspiron Mini 10, January 1, 2010
This review is from: Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Mobile Broadband 10.1-Inch Mobile TV Netbook, Black (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I have two of these minis- the original which had an odd keyboard that made it a little annoying to use and an updated one with the bigger keyboard (kudos to Dell) that this one has. The 6 cell battery protrudes from the back of the mini and that takes from the slim profile I was looking for as I travel overseas fairly often. If you are wanting the itty bitty smooth profile you might want to wait for them to update the battery. Other wise the computer works great, I have Ubuntu on one and XP on the other- they both work very smoothly. I prefer how Ubuntu works, but I teach High School science and math (brick and mortar and on-line) and many of the programs from the microscopes, telescopes, calculators, etc are not compatible with Ubuntu. Once they fix the size problem with the battery this computer will be ideal for someone that travels a lot or switches the area they use it a lot.

Why can't I buy without a contract?, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Mobile Broadband 10.1-Inch Mobile TV Netbook, Black (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I would much prefer to buy this netbook without a contract. This is more than a bit absurd: AT&T likely enforces that most netbooks with 3G modems in this country are sold with contracts. Of course they benefit. It's just like how the US carriers insisted that D-Link disable its 3G-modem-sharing capabilities on its routers. At least the Acer is still available unsubsidized and without contract.
