this little computer is amazing, and at this price i suggest you buy now before people catch on to the deal and they sell out.
i am not computer savy, i bought this computer in order to write papers, surf the web, and skype with friends. It works great for all three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also i was hesitant to purchase at first because the quality of the webcam was very important to me but this webcam is crystal clear!!!!!!!!!!
in love with this computer.... 1 suggestion thou, along with your purchase of this netbook be sure to buy the external cd drive its only like 10-15 dollars and you will need it.
even with the external cd drive it is still way cheaper than all the other netbooks.

I got this after reading several reviews that were very positive. I agree. This little notebook feels durable, works well, and will save me from lugging around a laptop everywhere I go. I was not disappointed with the "limited" versions of Office (only Word and Excel) and Windows (but I can't, or haven't figured out how to put up wallpaper). Regardless, it's a good little unit and worth the money. Wi-fi works well. Nice looking piano black finish. Camera looks good. Haven't tried Skype yet.

One reason I wanted this was to present PowerPoint presentations at meetings, but PowerPoint doesn't come with the limited version of Office. No problem. I just downloaded Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer from Microsoft for FREE, and it seems to work fine. I'm looking forward to a couple road trips with this.

UPDATE: AFter 3 days, Windows decided it needed to install some updates....12. That took 90 minutes. Eight hours later, as I tried to shut it down, it wanted to install 10 more updates. And since you can't unplug or shut it down until those have finished, it's getting a little old. I booted it right back up, and shut it down...two updates. Really? Since 5 minutes ago? Tried again. At least it was down to only update. BTW, each time, all updates were successfully downloaded and installed.

Totally rewritten 2/8/12: I bought this item to use for working on Excel spreadsheets and for wordprocessing in an extremely portable format. It works for that purpose once you figure out how to activate the Office 2010 starter software. At first I was stalled by the prompts that told me that I had to either provide a valid product key OR buy more software upgrades. It wasn't until one of our IT staff helped me that I found ANOTHER program in the list than Office 2010....way at the bottom of the queue(Office 2010 starter software which isn't shown on screen when you are at the top of the list where Office 2010 is shown) and it does work. YAY!

It also comes with McAfee and the activation of that software was easy.

The IE software defaults blocked popups so I was initially prevented from downloading Firefox or anything else I tried until the IT staff helped me there as well. Now I have a faster browser that can also help me manage/use my Kindle Cloud Reader.

I'm going to get a wireless mouse as the little touchie pad is too non-ergonomic for my old geezer hands to use easily.

The keyboard is awesome....not one of those teeny little things with flat keys that don't appreciate the touch typist approach. I can actually touch type on this without watching every key stroke. I actually like this keyboard better than the one on my desktop at work. YAY!

I'm hoping to upgrade the memory to 2GB but first I had to figure out if I could make this device DO what I needed it to do.

What was initially a frustrating experience is now a workable experience....but it took 36 hours and the help of the IT staff at work to get there.

(PREVIOUS REVIEW written 2/7/12): Granted, I'm NOT a tech whiz and didn't grow up with computers. But I thought with the assistance of the IT folks at work I'd be OK. I bought this device to make spreadsheets using Excel and for wordprocessing on something that was extremely portable. I don't do games or watch videos etc etc. So far, I've learned that I can't use the Office 2010 starter software preloaded on the machine without spending additional $$$, that the IE won't download Firefox (so I can use the Kindle Cloud reader for my kindle books) or anything else I've tried to download so far, and the only thing I've tried that worked was a game of Solitaire. I'm familiar with Windows 7 and Office 2010 software so this isn't totally new to me. So far, trying to make this gizmo work has been an exercise in futility. It's probably all my stupidity getting in the way but I've purchased Dell laptops in the past without problems like this.

edited to add: Apparently the default settings in this version of IE block popups, so the downloads I attempted were unsuccessful. Our IT folks helped me figure out how to circumvent this. So now I have Firefox to use for kindle Cloud Reader function. Still working on figuring out how to access the Office 2010 software. Maybe there is a product code in the box somewhere....otherwise I'll end up deleting and installing the version available for home use via my workplace.

I got this 8 months ago witch it is a life saver because it was the cheapest one I could find & can afford. The only issues I have is shipping took way to long & when I checked the tracking because it did provide tracking it said it was delivered when it wasn't so I was really worried it was stolen. It was delivered 5hrs after they tracting said it was.

The product it's self is good. It's windows 7 but can be really slow at times witch is very annoying. When I lock the compeuter then log back on the hole system freezes also the only way you can switch users is logging off completely or restarting witch is also very annoying. Other then that its pretty ok. I sure got my moneys worth lol

It gets the job done. I bought it to carry back and forth from my dorm to the tutoring center (A lot of my homework has to be done and turned in online). It gets the job done. It is slow but that is to be expected. It won't detect my external hard drive but it will detect my flash drives. It shows dirt and scratches very well and they seem to pop up quickly.

I give it 3 stars because it is SO limited - more than I expected.

For the price, I'm satisfied and if I had to go back, I would still purchase it.

I am very happy with this little Netbook, it's exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a small, light laptop for traveling, and, to take to work so I could do my certifcation, homework while there. For me the primary use is documents and internet. I'm set up on on clouds, online storage for most everything - Google, Dropbox, Flickr, etc. - so it makes for easy access, and I can put any documents, files on a USB disk when needed. It can be a little slower at times, especially using Chrome for a browser, but not so much that it annoys me.

I bought this for my mom, and now I want to buy one for myself!
It looks great, works great, and you can't beat the price. I think it is ideal for people who want to surf the web and do some work for short periods, like during a trip. It fits into any woman's bag, and it is very light. I don't know much about informatics, so I can't tell if it is the best configuration available in the market in the same price range, but I think it works just as nice as any other netbook. Highly recommended!

This netbook is for the people who wants to mainly go online and do stuff. The processor, Intel Atom N455 Processor 1.66GHz, is a single core processor so don't expect that you can run 10 things at the same time. Weight wise it is excellent for taking every where.

With the recent computer involvement in my son's elementary school, I was very hesitant on purchasing a new computer for his studies but at the same time did not want him to use my personal computer. I looked at many computers and for the price and functions needed, this netbook suits him perfect! He is 9 years old and can handle this equipment very safely and navigate to his school sites very easily. Perfect for beginners or someone who wants portability in a small package. I recommend this product to any parents that might be interested in purchasing for thier children or adults who want something bigger than a smart phone to have e-mail, internet connections.

I have only had my netbook for approximately one week but so far I am pleased. It is attractive and sturdy. The screen is bright. The speed, for a 1G processor, is respectable. My only disappointment is the Office package that is loaded on the netbook. You can activate a very basic package at no charge which includes Word and Excel w/o Powerpoint but if you do, there are advertisements attached to it. If you do not use that package you either have to have your own copy or buy it. Since I wanted to use this netbook for school, I downloaded PP viewer (free), but it is not what I truly want so I have to think about what I want to do next. Otherwise I can highly recommend this netbook.
