Is it running Windows 8 64-bit or 32-bit? Jul 22, 2014
64-bit. It's a full Windows 8 installation, which is usually 64-bit. The only 32-bit systems you might see these days are netbooks with Win 8 RT. The Inspiron 15z is a full laptop, though, not a netbook. The word 'Ultrabook' might seem to suggest it's a netbook but no, it's a full laptop.
If you are referring to the touchpad there is a feature called palm rejection and you adjust the sensitivity. It seems to be pretty smart and that if you slide your palms on the touch pad it minimizes movement of the pointer. My favorite trick though is to use a USB mouse, and then change the setting that disables the touchpad while mouse is active. It allows me to use a regular mouse but if unplug and need to use my laptop to do something really quick i can either use the touch screen or unplug the usb key and then the touchpad is active right away, plug the usb key back in and the touchpad automatically turns off. It even has a nice amber light to remind you the touchpad is inactive.
Its a mix of both but mostly metal
what's the input voltage? 120v or 220v or 120-220v Jul 24, 2014
You can but, I don't know if you'll see improved I/O. I'm not sure what the SATA interface is to the drive. If it's an older generation you may not see improved throughput. Chances are you will see improved I/O. Just not sure how much.
if you have a standard power invertor that you can get anywhere in the $20-$40 range
