i purchased this Dell at Amazon as it was cheaper than anyplace else. i love it. it does exactly what they say it does and does it well. im not very good with computers but have used them a long time. i have purchased HP's 3 times, 2 desk tops and a very expensive laptop and they didnt continue to work well after a few monnths and never worked as well as this one out of the box. i dont buy junk so it wasnt because they were cheap ones.
i love the crispness of the keys and the colors of the screen. everything is good with this as far as i am concerned at this time. how long it will be superior ill find out down the road.
july 30th.Had the computer for over a month now and the bloom is going off the rose. since ive had it over a month cant send it back. the 8 in 1 media card reader doesnt work. in fact cant be found. Dells website sucks. i cant get through to even try to get help. the one time I did get somebody on line for a different problem she couldnt help me because i didnt buy the machine from Dell. now im becoming very disappointed in the machine, Dell and even Amazon because i spent a lot of money and cant get something that works right. Dont know what im going to do about getting the pictures off my digital cameras card. I would just like for things to work the way they were supposed to. I suggest that when you get this or any computer, you immediately try out every function and make sure it does what it is supposed to do, that way if something is wrong you will know it before the send back time is over and you are stuck.

Received a new Dell Inspiron 15R on Feb 7. Discovered mike jack nonfunctional after 3 days of trying to get my previously functioning Dragon voice recognition working. Did everything I could to satisfy the definition of insanity and then called Dell tech support. 1 hour of screen sharing session and driver reloads and bios work took tech to conclusion that motherboard was bad. In home tech replacement resulted in no fix. Jacks were on sound card daughter board that was overnighted for 2nd at home visit and still no fix. 2nd dell tech support with screen sharing session resulted in tech telling me that it could not be fixed and I was eligible for return and upgrade and would be transferred to someone that could do that for me. Brief synopsis of sequence of attempts to fix elicited 2 questions. First one, " Will you take $25 certificate and work with tech support to fix problem? ". "NO". Second one, " Will you take $50 and work with tech support to fix problem? ". "Did you not hear what I told you??? $500 wouldn't do it. I want my upgrade ". " I can't do that ". I started to get the vibe he was messing with the getting angry American. And I got very angry when I was told that not only would I not get an upgrade, I would not get an equivalent computer in exchange for a return of the defective one. Money back only option. I could picture the speaker phone on and everyone in the room listening as he asked me a final question after I very loudly said. " ARE WE THROUGH ? "......In a very calm voice he asked me...." Are you satisfied with our phone conversation ? ".

Bought this Dell after doing a fair amount of research. Looked like out of box set up was going to be breezy. Then uninstall/install started freezing system up. MANY hours on the phone with Dell. They were kind, and trying to be helpful, but ultimately never fixed the problem. Oh woe, what to do. Ah, ha. I bought it from Amazon, so just return it.

Ended up replacing, hopeful first was just a bad copy of Windows but alas replacement doing same. Both going back tomorrow. So much wasted time. Now have to start fresh with entirely new, not Dell, choice.

Gad. It's worse than buying a car.

I have only have had the computer a few days, but so far there have been no issues with it. The laptop gets warm, but I would say that it is no warmer than any other laptop on the market. Setup was very easy and connected to my home network with no issues. I had hoped it would support a dual band wireless router, but I believe it only supports single, but there may be something in the settings I can change. Dell comes with additional product offerings, but I deleted them as they are just redundant systems as to what Microsoft loads there computers with. Two of the things that I have noticed is 1) there is a noise when you use the keys on the left side of the keyboard and 2) product doesn't include Blue Ray, even though the icon was shown in the pictures. For #1, it is only when I use everything from the G key to the left. It may be due to how hard I type, but since they entire keyboard doesn't do it, I would not say that is the cause. I moved the computer and couldn't hear anything physically loose, so I think it is the individual keys rattling on the keyboard. For #2, even though Blue Ray wasn't listed in the description, when I saw the picture with the Blue Ray icon on the drive drawer, I figured it would be there. The Bluetooth is great and I have already set up my iPhone to play through the computer. USB 3.0 is a great addition and it is noticeable over 2.0. Considering I bought this computer for use while deployed, I expect I will be able to get a year out of it as long as I take care of it. It seems like people always complain that things do not last, yet they don't care to actually take care of the things they buy.
