This product is absolutely amazing. I have a 2012 Macbook pro (low end model) and this thing blows my mac out of the water! Start up is very fast and everything loads quickly thanks to the 12GB of ram, windows 8.1 isn't so bad, everyone just think its cool to hate windows 8. I got it for $430 on black Friday from the best buy website, a crazy good deal. It doesn't have a graphics card so if you're trying to game on it, this system wont be ideal. But it makes an outstanding office PC.

Great little computer. I have been a computer tech for 25 years and thought I would try a pre-built system. For the money you cannot go wrong. Put a extra fan in the case for a little extra cooling. It runs like a dream.

Great value and can be used for gaming with some effort

Bought this to replace my aging i7-860 cpu. After reading several reviews and comparisons, I was a little hesitant to believe that this system being a new i-5 architecture would outrun my old i7, but it did. I was able to install my gtx 760 into this system, but it fits very tight to the motherboard because the sata 3 cable connections on the motherboard are in the way. But with some effort, I barely got this card to fit. The card is 10 inches long, and it also barely fit and had the narrowest margin of clearance to the hard drive enslosure., whew! I also installed a 650 watt power supply which went in without a hitch. There is a YouTube video of of someone putting an upgraded power supply in this exact system, so I knew it would be know problem. I also added a ssd card that cloned easily and was no problem. Having sata 3 and usb 3 is a awesome upgrade from older i7 860 system. Remember if you decide to move all these dell components to your own full computer tower versus this mid tower, you still have the motherboard problem not designed for a long video card, but can be done with some effort. Thats why for now, I am just going to use this mid tower, but I may later change it. There is (4) sata 3 cables on the motherboard, I have one going to the dvd, one to the sata 3 drive and one to the sata3 ssd. This info would of been of some help to me before buying and could not find it, so maybe this info helps you decide to try to use this system for gaming.

Great CPU, Bad Keyboard, Worse Amazon Customer No-Service.

There are three parts to this review.

1. CPU: Great machine so far. It gets a 5-star rating. Fast as lightening, no hiccups so far, runs Adobe CS (huge program), and Windows 8.1 is a breeze to learn. If you have trouble with Win 8.1, check out any number of Dummies 8.1 books from the library. Some are pretty good. Once you get it working, you will love it.

2. Keyboard: 0-star rating. What in the heck is Dell thinking? The space bar did not work, nor did several of the keys. So, I had to go to Amazon customer service.

3. Amazon Customer Service (CS): 1-star rating. It pains me to write this. My relationship with Amazon goes back to 2002, when it ran Mitch Miller-style TV commercial at Christmas. Until now, Amazon CS was brilliant. Loved it. Never had a problem. But now... you can't be serious.

I've had to write CEO Jeff Bezons twice to get satisfaction on two different issues. One concerned this keyboard.

CS said it could not exchange the keyboard for a new one.

I want you to think about that for a second.

Instead, they said I had to return the entire computer, exchanging the CPU, mouse, and keyboard, to get a new keyboard.

Exactly! It's beyond nuts! Worse than spending weeks and at least $20 to send it back, that bit of CS nonsense would cost me work production money. Not acceptable. Not in a million years.

So the email went to Mr. Bezos. The return message explained that the CS (now clearly offshore, owing to the accents) and fulfillment centers are in different places. CS could not simply "go down" to the fulfillment center, pull out a new keyboard, and mail it to me.Read more ›

Great machne, especially after uninstalling Windows 8

This machine will work with Windows 7 fine, I would download the ethernet drivers just in case - if this is your only machine... I am a sneakernet fanatic. I play GTA IV/EFLC at 800x600 with medium settings, but the weird thing is that it looks like the mormal resolution of the LCD monitor (1440x900). Also after updating the onboard Intel video drivers, the windows experience index jumped from 5.2 to 6.6! Dell's stupid motherboard configuration only lets GTA IV see like 27mb at first, you need to use -availablevidmem 10.0 (or more) in your commandline. Lately I have started dismantling all my other gaming computers, because I DON'T NEED THEM ANYMORE... If anyone has a question about this computer, please ask here and I will try to get back and help

Run three offices with 25 PCs. The youngest is 3 years old and so an upgrade cycle is due ( the actual users say they are being slowed down)!

Got two of these on a trial basis 5-6 hours ago. Had to delete some 'extra' programs and advertisement type stuff. So far We are 100 percent satisfied. Much faster than what we have-3 plus years old. Very quiet. Did I say blazing fast ?
