1.0 out of 5 stars Beware: Invalid License
I bought one of these laptops two months ago. It has been working just fine. Today Microsoft told me that the license is not valid. It has a valid certificate of authenticity on the back but does not have a second "refurbished" CoA. When I look at the internal System Properties/General tab it says "XP Corporate" which means it was covered under a mass/site license which...

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes..... But, July 26, 2009
This review is from: Dell Latitude D610 Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz, Windows XP Professional, 512MB DDR2, 40GB HDD, DVD/CDRW Combo) (Personal Computers)
I couldn't agree more with the other reviews regarding the deceptiveness of some outfits - in this case Tiger - in selling refurbished items as new. I felt that it was important, however, to review the product and not the vendor. I've used the D610 professionally with great success for several years. I was so pleased with its performance that I bought one for my personal use as well as two more for my in-laws. I bought all three as refurbs but I knew what I was getting and the price was unbeatable at approximately $250.00 each. If you're a wannabe geek such as I am, you can easily find all of the service literature necessary to service the D610 yourself. I've never had to service any of the three that I bought, but I did expand the memory in all of them. I was pleased with how easy the upgrade was, how well engineered the product is, and how clear the service literature is as well. I bought a hard drive caddy and an additional 80GB HD to fit in the CD port, so now I have 2 bootable HDs and a ton of storage. If forced to search for a negative, the only thing I can come up with is the click action of the pointing device. The feel is a bit stiff and the sound is somewhat irritating. That said, if the pointing device ever became bothersome enough a USB mouse could be purchased for a couple of bucks. I was looking for another D610 to buy for my wife when I stumbled upon these reviews so I felt compelled to put in my two cents worth. Good luck with whatever product you choose!

I bought one of these laptops two months ago. It has been working just fine. Today Microsoft told me that the license is not valid. It has a valid certificate of authenticity on the back but does not have a second "refurbished" CoA. When I look at the internal System Properties/General tab it says "XP Corporate" which means it was covered under a mass/site license which can not be transferred or sold. I will probably have to buy a fresh copy of XP ($100) and re-install.

Before I made the order I checked to see that the advertisement specified "Genuine Windows XP". I also checked the CoA when it arrived. When the Microsoft updater offered to run "Genuine Advantage" to check the authenticity I confidently thought "sure, go right ahead."

BEWARE!

5.0 out of 5 stars I lucked out?, October 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dell Latitude D610 Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz, Windows XP Professional, 512MB DDR2, 40GB HDD, DVD/CDRW Combo) (Personal Computers)
This older laptop arrived with a replaced E key, and a small spot of fingernail polish barely noticeable.. Other than those minor flaws, this laptop was more than I expected. More hard drive space than advertised, more ports than I thought would fit on a laptop and it even has a burner, not just a player and it works perfectly. The first time I turned it on,it immediately found my wi-fi and it's been a joy to work with since. It's made my Inspiron 1501 look like a piece of junk.
I bought from perfectbuy_perfectsell who responded to my email immediately and offered a 14 day return policy.

1.0 out of 5 stars RIPOFF; Refurbished, NOT NEW as advertised, June 5, 2009

Was careful to shop for brand new. Purchased this for a client. Although the refurb is factory, that is NOT what I purchased. Tiger Direct via Amazon, would not use again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dell Laptop from Tampa Laptops, September 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dell Latitude D610 Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz, Windows XP Professional, 512MB DDR2, 40GB HDD, DVD/CDRW Combo) (Personal Computers)
I can hardly say enough good about my purchase of a used Dell Latitude D610 laptop from Tampa Laptops through Amazon.com. The machine arrived two days after I placed the order, it was exactly as advertised, worked perfectly and was priced right. I wanted to introduce my wife to the digital world, both of us being advanced in years, and to have a machine to teach her on that operated just like my desktop with XP. This laptop is perfect for that purpose and the transaction was completely painless. Thanks to Amazon for the Tampa Laptop contact and the security of purchase that Aamzon provides.

5.0 out of 5 stars dell D610, January 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dell Latitude D610 Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz, Windows XP Professional, 512MB DDR2, 40GB HDD, DVD/CDRW Combo) (Personal Computers)
This laptop is performing very well. I am impressed with it for the price. why go buy a brand new laptop when you can get a refurbished one at less than half price and it does the same job. it would be great for a student or someone who just wants one to set on the couch and check emails. I dont do alot of work on it but surfing and youtubing its great. I even bought a second so my daughter would leave mine alone.
Thanks for a great value

4.0 out of 5 stars worth the price, December 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dell Latitude D610 Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz, Windows XP Professional, 512MB DDR2, 40GB HDD, DVD/CDRW Combo) (Personal Computers)
Received promptly. Upgrades were as stated, however there are two vexing problems.(1)Battery life is only about 45 minutes, and(2)the screen doesn't adjust to varying light conditions. Could be operator error. All in all though I am reasonably pleased with my purchase.
P.S.Read the manual, found the Fn key, screen works fine now.So other than the low batt life, everything is fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Laptop, July 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dell Latitude D610 Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz, Windows XP Professional, 512MB DDR2, 40GB HDD, DVD/CDRW Combo) (Personal Computers)
Laptop was very hot after about 20 minutes of use, almost too hot to touch mouse pad and bottom of laptop, due to a faulty/defective battery. I was afraid it was going to catch on fire; it got so hot laptop would shut down. Finally, after a few days, battery just quit charging, etc. Took the battery completely out and laptop works fine. So, now I have a "desktop" until I purchase a new battery, which is not so good because I do Medical Transcription on the go. Make sure if you purchase that you add into you budget for a new battery because I don't think they guarantee them, though my slip said battery was in good working condition, and they do not replace batteries.

This computer is very handy, and it does so far everything it was promised to do. It is in very good condition and it works like a charm thus far. An excellent purchase for the price.
