Along with the basics, the unit comes with a 6x DVD drive in a hot-swappable bay. Other options include a 24x CD-ROM drive, a 4x CD-RW drive, a second (up to 18 GB) hard drive, a floppy disk drive, and a second battery. While you can swap out one of the drives (or the battery) from the bay to use the included floppy drive, you can also connect it externally through an included cable.
Other notable features include an S-video out port, in case you want to run a presentation to a VCR or TV monitor, and a pair of PC card slots (CardBus and Zoom Video support). It has one USB port and an SVGA out port. The battery is lithium ion, providing long-lasting life even on short charges.
While some newer notebook models have tried to incorporate the type of one-touch controls for starting programs that newer desktop keyboards now sport, Dell has pretty much left the Latitude's keyboard layout alone, with one exception. With this system you have three choices of pointing-device support--you can attach a standard mouse or tablet to the unit's rear serial or PS/2 ports, or you can use one of the two devices embedded in the keyboard and shelf.
The unit is relatively light in weight (6.74 pounds with battery and DVD-ROM drive installed) and well within the upper range of notebook computer size at 1.77 inches thick, 12.55 inches wide, and 9.94 inches deep.

Dell Latitude refurbished notebook computer.,
By lindab "Daily Walker" (Mesa, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dell Latitude CPX Notebook (650-MHz Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, 12 GB hard drive) (Personal Computers)
The computer arrived in good shape in about 4 days. It was well packed, and the box and computer both contained a number of special items,e.g.,a handsome Dell carrying case,a double PC card slot with a modem card installed, an old fashioned mouse giving me a choice between the traditional notebook "mouse" and the mouse I am used to. Once I had set up the computer, I found a very helpful Dell Help book on the computer itself. .... I've been buying computers for 20 years, and I've never found such a good computer at such a low price. It exceeds my expectations. ....

Frustrating keyboard problem,

I recently purchased this and found that 3 keyes were not working at all. Checking the posts on DellTalk I quickly realized that this is a widespread problem with the Latitude CPX and that there is no fix or recall. I will return it for a refund and purchase a laptop from a different manufacturer.

A very good start for anyone, but...,

Look dont let this price deceive you. You still need to keep in mind that this thing is integrated so you cant customize its hardware in any way(Dell and Gateway), so basically forget about high performance games since you cant change it graphics card. But I wont lie, for this price I wouldnt pass it up. It can still be a useful item to have. Just dont expect windows to come with this so you might be spending another 200 bucks for the os but I wouldnt use windows anyways just try Linux.
