DELL ULTRASHARP 2208WFP, July 3, 2008
I am totally satisfied with the purchase of this product. Having done alot of research looking for the 22" widescreen LCD monitor that would both suit my needs and price range I am happy to report this one exceeded my expectations.
Installation was literally a snap. Mounting the LCD on the stand is a very simple process. You have the ability to adjust height up and down and tilt along with being able to swivel side to side. The stand is sturdy and well built. It comes with the needed cables to use either a VGA or DVI-I connection to your Video card. I am presently using a EVGA 7600 GS 512MB that has either connection available and I elected the DVI which offers better performance due to no digital to analog conversion requirement. Upon installation, WIN XP Pro only recognized a Standard monitor present so the driver disc provided by DELL was required, once the drivers were installed the DELL 2208WFP was properly recognized by the OS. The monitor provides 4 USB 2.0 ports 2 on the side and 2 on the back, of course you utilize one of your computer ports to connect the monitors USB capabilitiies so your net gain is 3. I hooked up a webcam to one of the rear ports and it worked fine. I am using the native resolution for this monitor of 1680x1050. The video is awesome right out of the box, I found that myself personally I needed to make no video adjustments whatsoever. The picture is bright and vibrant. Text is sharp and clear. I am totally satisfied with this product, if there are any cons it would have nothing to do with monitor itself for it handles video superbly, but documentation provided is sparse, which is pretty much the trend these days, if you want to know more about the product or need help you'll basically need to go online for it, but anyone with basic knowledge should have no problem at all with the initial setup. This is a great monitor and well worth the money spent. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Please note: This monitor only has VGA and DVI input jacks, there is no HDMI,Svideo, composite or component, so if you are hoping to use it as a TV monitor as well your most likely out of luck unless your Audio/Video receiver or cable box provides the necessary outputs which is unlikely.

Reasonably priced, but only reasonable quality, August 26, 2008
I'm also going to have to disagree with Mr Rehs here. Even though the Dell 2208WFP isn't a terrible monitor, it's really not great either.
As some of you may know, nearly all 22" TFT monitors are TN panels. This is the cheapest type of panel, and the limitations are quite apparent at 22" and up. The main problem with this product is the viewing angle, which is atrocious. You have to look at it dead centre. Any angling up, down or to the side will see a change in colouration, normally showing a slight pink/red colour at the edges of the screen. It wasn't particularly sharp [in spite of the 'Ultrasharp' tag] and the colours could have looked fresher. Calibration was also a real pain and I struggled for days to get it to look good, eventually giving up.
This would be fine as a secondary monitor or for a cheap and cheerful option....but if you want high quality, great colours and sharpness look elsewhere.

Excellent monitor for the under $200 price range., July 7, 2009
This review is from: Dell UltraSharp 2208WFP TFT LCD display 22-Inch Widescreen (Black) (Electronics)
We have owned this monitor for over three months now, and are very impressed with it. This monitor has a few amazing features - especially at this price - identified below (**).
PROS: Very solidly built w/ nice cable management. Also, has a MATTE Black finish (rare these days), and a narrow bezel with **Anti-glare and Hard Coating (3h)** on the screen!!! In addition, you can **adjust the height** to a very nice height (at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches higher than others), tilt the panel forward and backward, **swivel it left-to-right**, even **pivot from landscape mode to portrait mode**.
I found the screen to be very bright, and the color saturation is great.
It has DVI, and VGA hook-up. Plus, it comes with BOTH DVI, and VGA Cables.
A very nice bonus is that the screen wrap (fairly thick) used for protecting the screen during shipping, can also be used as an ongoing screen cover.
CONS: Does not have HD -- minor concern though for a desktop monitor.
ALSO, this write-up on Amazon says that the Dell 2208WFP comes with a 2 Megapixel Webcam. I did not get one on mine, NOR does Dell indicate that it should have one!
